We don't make them up. We get thousands of submissions and many don't get chosen. It might be something of a Hall of Fame effect. Take baseball. Once someone has been passed by a couple of years, the odds of them being selected become longer and longer, as they are forgotten and other worthy candiates surface. For QoD, it's more about getting burried by new submissions. Not saying it's right, but that's just the way things often work. Regarding "softness," I think that's just foolish. Anything you aren't interested in will look soft to you. Remember, we do this 365 and have for seven years. We won't hit every one out of the park (baseball again?), but they all take time, effort, and resources. I've written several of the gambling answers myself, and I can assure you they require work.
