Yes, my example was "wild" as you say, and intentionally so. I believe that police should not ignore facts at hand, and you believe that should ignore facts at hand. We disagree.

Of course your example of '50%' of blacks is pretty wild, but still, your obvious solution is for the police to stop and question all blacks entering that particular neighborhood, right? Because you support racial profiling by police.
What you may be missing or ignoring is what about the other 50% in your example? You know, the law abiding citizens just minding their own business How do you think this impacts them..being stopped, searched, questioned only because they are Black? How do you think that corrupts their view of the police or our society? Why don't you care about their rights?
Sure you could argue 'But what about the crime victims?' "Don't they have rights". Again, we're not talking about a specific crime...just police work based on stereotypes and not facts. If you really want to cut down on crime, just have the police go into 'bad' neighborhoods and search each house.. I'm sure you'll find a lot of things you can arrest people for. But our constitution protects us from unlawful search....at least most of us.
Here's what Bill Clinton said about Racial Profiling:
''Racial profiling is in fact the opposite of good police work where actions are based on hard facts, not stereotypes,'' the President said. ''It is wrong, it is destructive and it must stop.''
Here's what George Bush said about Racial Profiling:
“It’s wrong, and we will end it in America. In so doing, we will not hinder the work of our nation’s brave police officers. They protect us every day -- often at great risk. But by stopping the abuses of a few, we will add to the public confidence our police officers earn and deserve"
