New Margaritaville Casino

The new Margaritaville Casino opened yesterday 6/15/13.
Many, too many, people were there.

It was very difficult to find a parking space. Many irate people trying to park.
I waited for one couple to pull out of their spot and a truck attempted to nose in ahead of my Lexus. I say attempted as he lost without a crash. He might have found me more difficult had he alighted from his truck as I carry.

Lots of security and police.

It was not easy to move around as there were crowds trying to play.

The sign up line for the player card wrapped around the casino. Being one who looks for a better way, I found an employee in the high limit area taking information to get a player cards, apparently ahead of the long line.

The Casino is across the river from Sam's Casino (Boyd).

Details:

A 395 room hotel tower. 18 story,with 36 Luxury Suites.
1200 new slots, many I had not seen before, none of my old favorites.
54 tables games.
450 seat entertainment center.
850 seat entertainment center with VIP balcony.
325 seat buffet.
4 main dining venues.
An outdoor entertainment area.
Small pool w/bar (outside rear , near the river area.)
5 O'clock Somewhere Bar.
Spa

The casino is all on one level. The high limit area is near the front (near the hotel end.)

There were too many people there for me on opening day so I did't stay long.
More details next trip (like blackjack details, video poker, etc.

Everything was shinny new and the staff was overly friendly.

I checked three other hotels and they semed to have the usual crowds for a weekend in them as well.

There are now 6 large casinos in the river area Shreveport/Bosier City LA.
There are other small slot "casinos" near the Texas border (Just small slot parlors mostly at large fuel stops). Also the large race track casino (to me just a large slot parlor.) with a great buffet due East of town.

Hope to see you there!!

New Margaritaville casino opened in Atlantic City, too. I guess it's shared with Resorts. Packed. 6 months ago Resorts was a ghost town. Yesterday, Margaritaville was very crowded. Taj was dead, Showboat and Harrah's were both packed.
Heading to Atlantic City this weekend, and I plan to visit Margaritaville at Resorts. I am dying to see the old Resorts (which I never liked) now that Mohegan Sun took it over. I heard a rumor that the players card is linked to Mohegan Sun casinos.........good deal for me, as CT is much closer. I live in MA, you know - the state that legalized gambling over a year ago and has yet to issue a single license..............unreal.
Why people deal with brutal crowds to go to a casino opening is mind boggling.

The half of the casino closest to boardwalk has some new Margaritaville bars and restaurant and a very large Landshark bar/grill out on the beach. The half of the casino away from the boardwalk looks the same as it did years ago.

Great- another fun-happy guck. Try to take his parking spot and he'll shoot ya.
Guess where I am going Sunday and Monday this coming week? That's right. Shreveport to check out Margaritaville Hotel and Casino. Well I'm glad I have free comped room at the Horseshoe for two nights now. Maybe we won't stay as long at Margaritaville as I thought.

Take your gun just in case the parking lot is crowded....
We plan to park at the Horseshoe where we are staying and cab over. I'm going with a Vegas friend and I know there will be some big girl drinking going on.

I don't get it either. Are they afraid it's going to shut down after a week?
