New threats?

Anyone else find it a little bit of a coincidence that our Govt is privy to some new terrorists' threat
shortly after the concern over the NSA/Snowden concerns? I keep seeing headlines of reports that something "big" is being planned. I'm not a huge conspiracy theorists or anything,
but it did/does give me a little pause. Anyone have any thoughts?

I just watched V for vendetta again the other night and this line has been stuck in my head
since,
"We have to remind the people just how much they NEED US" High Chancellor Adam Suttler
It certainly would fit right in with the people and the entire NSA thing would be a distant memory(like it isn't already fading, unfortunately).

Humans have spied on humans since the beginning of time.
Live well and truthfully. That's all you can do.
Oh trust me, I'm not sweating anything, I just don't like the thought of an all encompassing powerful Oz that seems to get a little stronger and individual rights seem to lessen a little more all the time. I remember reading 1984 and animal a long time ago and thought they were so outrageous that could never possibly happen in the good 'ol USA. Odd how things change.

Politicaly, Its largely a no-win situation for the administration. If they wait for an attack to happen and report on it afterwards then they have to deal with the Bengazhi-gate nuts and 12 months of trials from Darryl issa to find out who knew what and when...and who was covering everything up.

Or they can pre-announce intelligence prior to an attack and be criticized for scaring the public.

In either case, facts dont really play much of a role in the criticism and accusations that arise from the usual crowd.
From May 2010

"Our long-term security will not come from our ability to instill fear in other peoples but through our capacity to speak to their hopes," Mr Obama said in a message introducing a new national security strategy."

Not working to well
I'm glad they are taking this seriously. I remember how liberals used to berate the Bush administration when these threats were made public. It is too bad they had to make politics out of it.

According to the New York Times, homeland security chief Tom Ridge was pressured by Rumsfeld and attorney general Ashcroft to raise the "terror alert" level to sway the November 2004 US election.

How dare we suspect Bush of trying to politicize terror.

forkushV remembers accurately. It was in Secretary Ridge's own book!

WASHINGTON — Tom Ridge, the first secretary of homeland security, asserts in a new book that he was pressured by top advisers to President George W. Bush to raise the national threat level just before the 2004 election in what he suspected was an effort to influence the vote.

After Osama bin Laden released a threatening videotape four days before the election, Attorney General John Ashcroft and Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld pushed Mr. Ridge to elevate the public threat posture but he refused, according to the book. Mr. Ridge calls it a “dramatic and inconceivable” event that “proved most troublesome” and reinforced his decision to resign.

I guess that Secretary Ridge is one of Roulette Man's "liberals [who] used to berate the Bush administration when these threats were made public".
You what's amazing, if we had an attack at this time, Forkush and Chilcoot would have been the first to criticize Bush for not doing enough and would have said that the warning was out.

These two are political leeches on society. They don't give a DAMN about anything except their politically driven agenda.

Oh, by the way. What about all the times you wrote off threats AFTER Bush had been reelected? Sheesh.
