Non-Vegas......Obama warns Russia

Obama is bluffing, and Putin will call the bluff. Europe isn't on board, and they won't stop buying Russian natural gas. Unless Obama is willing to start military actions (which I don't want and Putin knows Obama won't try), Obama's threat and lack to clout will prove that his words are meaningless.

Our president's words should carry some weight, but I'm convinced that they don't and won't until Obama is gone.

Got news for you Boilerman. Obama won't be gone till sometime in mid Jan 2017. The POTUS position will then be filled by another of those pesky liberal Democrats.

The premise of this thread is false.

No news report that I've seen indicates that President Obama has warned Russia. The White House has informed President Putin that a treaty violation has occurred. There's no indication that a "warning" was issued.

But then not misrepresenting this White House isn't much of a priority for the haters.

Is Chilly implying that Putin is uninformed of our treaty? If so, I suggest that our president and Chilly are both incorrect. To the contrary, I believe that Obama and Putin understand that Russia is in violation of our treaty, and that Obama's words are meant as a threat............or at minimum to make Obama look tough to low information voters. Putin will again ignore Obama's words.

Hope and change! Yes we can! Change we can believe in! Words are proving again to be cheap, and in this case, worthless.

US, Europe to Impose New Sanctions on Russia

Both the United States and European Union will soon impose additional sanctions against Russia as Moscow has increased its support for rebel fighters in Ukraine, White House officials announced Monday.

“Russia is doubling down on its own efforts to support the separatists and destabilize the country. Indeed it is cynically using all of the attention focused on the crash of MH17 as cover and distraction from its own efforts,” said Tony Blinken, a U.S. deputy national security adviser.

Blinken spoke to reporters after President Barack Obama held a video conference with European leaders about Russian activity in Ukraine, the 50th conversation the leaders have had since the start of the crisis.

Here's what Obama can do. He can get out of the way of the oil and gas industry, and let them double oil and gas production over the next decade. Export both products heavily (especially natural gas), pushing down natural gas and oil pricing and crushing Russia's economy. Oh, in the meantime, this would be an outstanding bump for the US economy.

Obama can't seem to learn that his words carry little strength because of his past meaningless warnings. If Obama draws a line in the sand, Obama needs to deliver pain to the country that crosses that line. If he's unwilling to do so, Obama should keep his mouth shut as his meaningless warnings further devalue the word of our president.
