Obamacare 2014 - Part Deux

I guess I am a weird liberal in that I don't think health insurance should be tied to your employment which of course would mean that employers also would no longer be responsible for providing you health insurance.

Liberals don't believe that increasing employer costs and increasing employer regulations effects employment. Furthermore, Liberals do not care about the cost of Obamacare.

"And neither Blummenthal or our resident critics took into account medicaid expansion in their figures. But thanks for stopping by"

From the 1st paragraph of the Time article

"The report looks at both people who gained coverage through insurance marketplaces, and people who gained coverage due to provisions in the Affordable Care Act (such as those qualifying for Medicaid and those now covered through the Children’s Health Insurance Program).""

So what part of this program is working?

This proves that you are a very normal Liberal. Conservatives believes that government should leave business alone. Malibber desires the government to mandate how a private company handles one more thing.

Government needs to stop meddling.

I haven't seen Don Diego's update to this thread, so apologies if I'm reposting what he's already written.

As he predicted, the DC Circuit has now in fact tossed out the ruling he posted here a couple months ago to start this thread. Interested readers can see the order granting Attorney General Holder's request here.

Key sentence seems to be this one:

"It is FURTHER ORDERED that the judgment filed July 22, 2014, be vacated."

Sooo . . .

DonDiego hadn't come across this news; he thanks Chilcoot for the update.

This is exactly as DonDiego expected:

DonDiego expects the full D.C. Court of Appeals will reverse the three-judge panel, . . . in agreement with the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit decision which followed the D.C. Court of Appeals decision by hours. Hours ? Almost like they knew something.

DonDiego hopes the US Supreme Court reviews the case for a final definitive solution; he hopes that panel upholds the Constitution. However, he cannot be sure.

DonDiego still hopes the US Supreme Court chooses to hear the case to decide if the IRS can make up policies which are expressly/intentionally not included in the Law.
He has no expectation one way or the other. And if they do hear the case he still cannot be sure how they will rule.

Death spiral!!

It has been established that the kaiser foundation is a shill for obamacare and every study has been favorable to obamacare.

Organizations that don't have an agenda have done studies have had less favorable results.

Death Panels!! No one will enroll! Unaffordable!! No one will pay! Insurance company bailout! And now this. Time for another fantasy, huh hoops?

Remember when obama was bragging about 8m; seems like he was premature

Marilyn Tavenner, administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, told a congressional committee that "as of August 15, this year, we have 7.3 million Americans enrolled in Health Insurance Marketplace coverage and these are individuals who paid their premiums."

As Doug Holtz-Eakin, former director of the Congressional Budget Office, explained, "it’s not enough to sign up. You have to sign up and pay on a regular basis to really be enrolled."

That is one reason both state and private insurance officials have been saying their enrollments were shrinking.

Mark Bertolini, the CEO of Aetna, the nation's third largest insurer, said recently that his company had 720,000 people sign up for exchange coverage as of May 20, but only 600,000 turned out to be paying customers.

He added he expects that number to fall to "just over 500,000" by the end of the year. That would leave Aetna's paid enrollment down some 30 percent from its original sign-up numbers.
