OK,WHO is going to downtown in October? ME!

Depends on your personal style and expectation.

I don't find the game boring. I interact with the dealers and other players and approach it as a 'game' with a serious consequence, i.e. losing money.

Adding the skill of counting cards changes the game and makes it more exciting and different. It can actually "up the stakes" in that if you mess up in your counting you could lose even more. Of course, you could win more too.

This sounded like enough fun that I was going to try to make it out for a night but family activities take precedence.

YES! BJ can be boring because it's so slow.
Time to do small talk or watch people go by.
If you want to TRY to make a few bucks, pay attention.
To increase the excitement, make big bets.
It is a game of skill.
Some luck,too.

Roulette is WAY boring.
