Pacemaker and Monorail...Safe?

I have a quick question...

My husband and I are taking my mother to Vegas with us next week. She has a pacemaker (and does GREAT with it).

Does anyone know if it is safe for her to ride the Monorail in Vegas? She is really wanting to ride it while we are there! I don't want to do anything that might interfere with her pacer.

Thanks for any help!
why not.
Electro Magnetic fields effect pacemakers.
Pretty sure if it was a problem, there would have been a huge kerfuffle already.

I think you're worrying too much about the monorail. If she's flying, she has LOTS of similar devices she'll encounter. An elevator in her apartment. A moving sidewalk at the airport. The electric bag carousel at McCarran. Thousands of slot and VP machines on the casino floor.

Your fear sounds real, so I suggest you check this list of devices of potential concern. I don't see anything like a monorail listed.
She should be fine. Although the long walk to get to a station might be a challenge.

She should be more worried about keeping herself calm after hitting a really Big JACKPOT!!!!!!!!!
I couldn’t find any information about this on the LV Monorail website, so I called them and asked (702-699-8200). The person who answered the phone had never heard the question before, but his supervisor said that it’s come up once or twice in the past, and they feel confident in assuring pacemaker patients that there is no danger whatsoever.

For what it’s worth, I think the only rail systems that might expose passengers to strong electromagnetic fields would be those that incorporate high-tech stuff like magnetic levitation and/or linear electromagnetic drives. The LV Monorail, whose low-tech propulsion system involves rubber tires riding directly upon a concrete rail, incorporates none of that.

I’m sure it’s completely safe.

The co$t of a single ride could set off her pacemaker

Mine hasn't failed me while riding.........yet......

Thanks, Beaker!

I was beginning to worry that there might be a reason why we hadn't heard from anyone with a pacemaker who'd ridden the monorail . . .
