I agree, but You have to EARN a RF or quads by drawing cards.

You are not "drawing cards"

To draw cards, you must discard cards, then get new cards.

That doesn't happen in Pick'Em.

You are dealt 2 cards (on the left) and can then chose between either of two dealt piles of three (on the right).

Yep,they ARE dealt. Just pick a pile.
They are already dealt!
Absolutely correct,Sir.

Yes, that was quite a surprise for me to see that when I ended up having a bad session. But that just proves that anything can happen to anyone at any time. I'm happy that I was able to give Biglar73 some good help (pointers).

My friend, Martin (MMoy) was playing partners with a friend and they were playing $.50 Pick 'em and did catch a royal. Unfortunately, they didn't take a picture.

I've been dealt the three cards for a Royal in Pick 'em four or five times, and have never even caught one of two required needed cards.

47 cards remain in the deck so the odds are 47 to 1 that you will get ONE of those required cards.94 to 1 that you will get both? Just guessing, here.
47 to 1 that you will turn trips into quads? No. 47 to 3?
Any way,it's a LONG SHOT!
Makes my brain hurt to think about it.

Not sure of my math either, but believe there are 48 cards left in the deck, as there are four cards showing. So am speculating that the chances of the two other royal cards being under the picked royal card would be 48x47/2...whatever that is. Then that has to be multiplied by the odds of getting three royal cards in the first place. I'll trust the previous calculation that that works out to the same as a dealt royal in draw poker, but am too confused to know for sure.

I with you, buddy! We need some probabiity wizard to help out, here.Makes my head hurt even worse.

Well when you are dealt two Royal Cards (on the left),
and a third Royal Card showing (on top of one of the two piles on the right), you would obviously pick that pile.

Therefore to get a Royal, the remaining two Royal Cards would have to be in that pile that you chose.

............. therefore all 5 cards were dealt ~~~~~~~~ 650,000 / 1.

OK,you win,Rick. Odds of that happening: ONE in .65 million.
Gimme a quad or 2 and I'll be a happy monkee. I'll try for 20 hours and pound my bankroll to bits. Just keep the beers comin',nice lady with the cleavage.

"Therefore to get a Royal, the remaining two Royal Cards would have to be in that pile that you chose." is what is being asked.

While the odds of a royal flush before playing a pick em hand are 1 in 650k, they are 1 in 1,081 to complete the Royal after being dealt 3 to a Royal, which is was is being asked in this case. This is the same odds in pick em as in most over VP games.

As far as the other comment above "I know it's a VERY volitile game". Actually it is not as volatile as other VP games because the Royal is not very important in the overall payout since it is so rare. On VPFREE2 they have the variance (volatility) stats for each game. For pick em the variance is 15.0, for 9/6 Jacks it is 19.5 and for Double Bonus it is 28.3
