Please share your rental car experiences

Am going to be in Vegas for 25 days, starting the morning of 8/15. Rental car rates are off the charts! The fees at Firefly, Advantage and EZ Rent a Car are far more attractive than the usual suspects but I've never used any of them. Are they located within the Rental Center? Are the lines outrageous? Are their vehicles okay? Have used Fox in the past but almost a missed a flight once when their 2nd shuttle was delayed.

Thanks in advance for your advice! Jude
For 25 days, I'd take the risk on a cheaper rental car.
Sixt requires a second shuttle but it is very close to the Rental Car Center and would be an easy walk without luggage or excessive heat but would still be a hassle. They seemed to be brand new and working out the kinks but my car had only 10 miles on it. They have regular cars but also have high end ones as well. For that long of a rental I would suffer some inconvenience to save money. I was stuck with Sixt through Hotwire so just know if you look at Hotwire rates you might not get a company at the Rental Center.
I would avoid the car companies you listed. Have heard terrible stories about them. We have always rented from Alamo - always fair even if you have an accident like we did.

Okay, go to their site, find the car you want - use codes found in American Casino Guide or "google" codes for them. Check several times a day and you will be surprised how the cost comes down.

You don't have to use your credit card to book it - just keep cancelling and using the new rate. I got my daughter and husband a rate for their trip this month for $325.00. Booked it about a month ago. Kept checking and checking and they finally wound up paying
$133.70!!!!! This was for a week!! Compact car but good enough for them to ride to other properties off the strip, etc. They were thrilled to pieces.

Once you arrive at the airport and get your luggage go out the door for RENTAL CAR BUS and the bus will be there waiting for you. Takes like 15 minutes to the parking garage - head to Alamo area - NOT the counter - use the kiosk and plug away putting in your license, etc.
Refuse insurance, etc. and in no time the printer will print out your agreement - turn around - go up the escalator and find your car!!! Takes minutes!!!!!!!!!!

IF you decide to use the "no name brand" you will be hassled to death for extra this or that which they make most of their money on. Your car insurance and/or credit card will cover the rental insutrance.

We have been using Alamo for over 27 years and NEVER EVER have had any problems whatsoever. The cheaper ones (or so you think) sound good but by the time you are done it will cost you a lot MORE!!!

I would agree with Chessie about avoiding the car companies you listed. I've noticed that the super "el cheapo" companies had VERY long lines at the car rental facility. After my long flight from Honolulu I was glad that I booked with a major company. They had enough employees working so I could pick up my car in a reasonable amount of time.
Aloha,
Jennifer
Never had a problem with Alamo or Enterprise
Big fan of Hertz for customer service and experience. For me, it's not worth sweating the extra couple of dollars.
I dunno, if I'm renting a car for 3+ weeks, I'll stand in a line and put up with a little inconvenience for a couple of hours.
We use Dollar. I always check the prices aleast twice a day to see if the price changes. This last rip it went from $340 to $160 for a week. Also sign up for Dollar Express and you do not have to wait in line. Just go to the parking area and see if your name is on the screen.
Used Dollar last week and everything went very smoothly with Dollar Express...ended up with a small SUV for a compact rate.
That said, I prefer Budget, as they usually have the lower rate ($145 for one week Oct trip and its an SUV too). I take the Costco codes and use the Budget site (its easier than using the Costco site to book).
