Please share your rental car experiences

I have used Dollar with no issues. I lately have used EZ and I have to say, no pressure at the counter for extras at all. I got high pressure the last time I used payless, and won't use them again, just due to their counter staff. So for me, I go with Dollar or EZ, whichever gives me the best rate. And one time with Dollar, I changed the booking 4 times as the rate kept dropping. Good luck

I dunno, if I'm renting a car for 3+ weeks, I'll stand in a line and put up with a little inconvenience for a couple of hours.

Standing in line and being a little inconvenienced is one thing, being assigned cars that should have retired before I assumed the keys, tires out of balance, rotational sounds, a plate with tags that aren't current, getting nickel and dimed on questionable scratches to make up the difference, doesn't make the $1 or $2 a day worth giving up the customer service, reliability of vehicles, etc. But that's just been my experiences.

I might even stand in a line and be a little inconvenienced to use Hertz, but I would draw the line considerably shorter than a couple of hours.
I will never rent from hertz again after my experience with them in San Diego.
I have used most every car rental company in vegas at one time or another EXCEPT the couple that you need to take a second shuttle to get to.I almost always shoot for the cheapest economy car possible.
I have used advantage twice now. They have the same slow service as dollar and payless, they try hard to up sell gas, insurance and an up grade like all of the rental companies do, the cars will not be anything you take a picture of and add it to your LVA trip report. The cool thing is the check in line is usually shorter than payless.
If money is a priority and you keep your expectations in check I think you will do ok with advantage.

You weren't supposed to drive your rental onto Mission Beach.

Hertz makes you telecast to agents in unknown places. Very slow. Rented from Nation in SD a few months ago they gave me free upgrade an Infinity G50. Vroom, vroom.
Like I always tell people renting a car. Drive straight to a filling station and top off the tank. One time in Vegas our car was over $12 short on fuel. I called the 800 number and they told me to keep the receipt and show it to the counter when we returned the car. They also gave us one free day rental for our trouble.

If I was going to be in Vegas for a month Id be tempted to just drive there and use my own car..
Thanks, everybody.

Tonight Firefly for an intermediate car was at $474. Advantage was at $562 for the same. A few weeks ago there was a freaky sale at Dollar for a premium car (which I certainly don't need but wouldn't kick out of bed) for $646 and I booked it. Can't really cost justify the difference between the Firefly rate and Dollar; but, heck, that's just a little bit of time with a video poker machine in front of me.

Pjstroh, our family did indeed drive to Nevada from the Greater Cleveland area twice. The first time my husband hit an orange barrel in St. Louis, knocking off the passenger side rear view mirror of my then brand new Jag...and later clipped a 2nd orange barrel in Oklahoma Getting a rental car after flying to Vegas would have been cheaper.

Rayx! Thanks for the clever tip! Never thought to do that!
