Powerball gettin' back up there again

290 mil with a cash out of 168.4 mil. A nice chunk of change that I could certainly find something to do with.

On a side note, I was looking at the different taxes states tax rates and was really surprised to see that Ca. is one of the few that states that don't charge a tax on lottery winnings. I wonder how long that will last now that PB has started in Ca.

And..in megamillions world they are revamping the game a bit to get more winners and a larger JP, here's the meat of it..
"Under the new Mega Millions game matrix, the overall odds of winning any Mega Millions prize will improve to 1-in-14.71 from 1-in-40, making an estimated three times as many winners.

The overall odds of winning the game's jackpot will change to 1-in-258,890,850 from the current 1-in-175,711,536. This change is expected to lead to larger jackpot growth.

Players in the redesigned game will choose their first five numbers from a pool of 75, up from the current 56. The group of numbers in the Mega Ball pool will shrink from 46 to 15."

I don't think that Calif. will change their tax laws that make lotto winnings untaxable. The thing I don't like about the way that Calif runs the PB, is that they treat it like a parimutual. So in states where 5 0ut 0f 5 might pay 1 million, in Calif. it might pay 450,000. Too many times when you hit the PB + a number, you get paid the same $3 as hitting the PB alone. That just doesn't seem right.

I guess in their quest to make it harder to hit the PB, they must be going to add more PB numbers. Isn't an almost 600 million $ PB a large enough jackpot? GEEZ! I guess they are trying to go for 1 BILLION $$$!
The higher the jackpot gets the more people who play...which then makes the jackpot get even bigger. With California in the mix it seems like those Jackpot jumps go even higher - 60 million dollars since the last drawing.

As usual our office pool donated $100 with nothing to show for it.
I really have to quit watching TV and typing a post at the same time.

I already bought some PB tickets tonight since I won $100 on a scratcher last night.
I quit buying powerball tickets when they doubled the price.
DonDiego requests he be informed when the jackpot tops $half-a-billion.
They jumped the prize to $300 million today. Throw away all your tickets folks....I already have the winner. I met a guy at a Arco station in Oceanside, CA. I've passed a donut shop many times on Mission Ave. and I've never stopped in to buy lotto tickets. But today when I saw the PB Jackpot up to $300 million, I jerked the car to a halt as went inside to buy PB tickets. I see no reason why I can't win the PB with these tickets!

What happened to the guy at the ARCO station? And, donut shops in CA sell lottery tickets?
