Priced outta the game

Heres an article on some tic prices for attending some pro sporting games and how much they cost nowadays. I don't care how much money you have, it definitely costs a few duckets to take the fam to a game nowadays. These are only ticket prices, I kn ow from personal experience(and I'm sure most on here know as well) that by the time you pay to park, munchies, drinks the big foam finger for the kid(s) one can easily approach dropping 2 grand in a day.

This article doesn't do Soccer but I can say soccer tix exceed some of these prices. Last summer Manchester and Barcelona came to play at fed-ex field and my son being the soccer freak(Barcelona fav team) I thought it would be cool to get tix for a little family outing and take in a pro soccer(er,football to some of yinz) game. I figured tix couldn't possibly be that much for a soccer game, DAMN!, was I wrong! 250 bucks for the nosebleed seats. Fifty for parking, anothe hundy on refreshments(at least) plus whatever other pocket depreciation would occur and it wouldv'e been over a grand to see this game and it wasn't even a for real game, It was an exhibition game. I
would've gladly paid 500 give or take, but a thou+? not poor, but sure seemed excessive to me.

Rather just sit in the casino sports book or vegas hotel room and watch on TV

No you can't.

Maybe if the Duggars want to go the Super Bowl.

But 2 grand for parents and a couple/few kids to go to a regular season, big league game? Be serious. You have a point to make, no need to exaggerate.
Well that means that when they (players) threaten a strike walk. Only because owners and players cannot figure out how to split up the fans paid monies to see a game and the TV money we should walk sounds like a good idea to me. There is a thing about pricing yourself out of the market and with times the way they are today looks like this could happen. The harest one to fall would be football every game is packed. A few years ago while in Las vegas we went down and seen then the 51's and had a very nice evening without breaking the bank.

Greek, very true catching a semi-pro can be a great time w/o blowing the entire wad. We have a minor league team that plays literally 10 minutes down the road from us, can go for a great afternoon or evening for a benji and that's not skimping(3 of us) on anything. I do kinda find it amazing(?) that stadiums do sell out as much as they do, especially in this economy.
Personally when it comes to watching pro football, agree with Blades statement of just catching the game on the tube.

Saw a piece in todays newspaper that showed attendance down last year in the NFL.With all the fancy new tv's out there, people are just staying home and watching the games on their flat screens.
NFL stadiums are television studios.

NFL football is better on TV in every way.
My son has season tickets to both the Padres and the Chargers, and I can't believe what they go for!!! The Padres tickets are $75 a seat per game and he has two of them. So since half of the season the Padres are at home, that's $150 x 76. I haven't been in the new ones that he has, but Sionow has been and he says they are great. As far as the Chargers tickets go, I believe they are around $200 a ticket per seat and he has two of those. But in football, there are only 8 home games, but two exhibition games which you have to pay full price for each game! So that's 4 grand, and that doesn't even include how much the parking passes cost!

I can't believe that when I give away two baseball tickets, it's like giving someone $150. Wow! That's a lot of money for one game!

I believe it is $150 x 81 since there are 81 home games in a 162 game season.

jatki99---We have the Washington Wildthings about 23 miles up the road on I-70 and it is a fun evening. These guys are just out there to play ball and if lucky will get noticed. $1.00 beer nigths are a blast.
