Real Justice

Many on this site expound on any and everything, offering their opinions and justifications for said opinions. For those, and you know who you are, I pose these questions- If you made the rules and were in charge of punishment for all of the murderers who committed the school, theater, military base shootings and the current bombing deaths in Boston, 1) What would you decree as just punishment and 2) What laws would you enact to prevent future killings? Personally, I would gun them down on the spot if apprehended while in the act of committing these murders. Any captured alive would be put into a wood chopper feet first until there was nothing left. I would let these acts of punishment speak for themselves as to how any future murderers would be dealt with. There will be those who will be appalled at my remedies. I say, what would your reaction be if one of your family members was murdered during one of these killings? Would you honestly "turn the other cheek" or demand and desire the murderers death? I say that the criminals and murderers have too many "rights". What about the rights of the victims and their families? These types of crimes need to be stopped and anyone who commits these crimes needs to be eradicated from the face of the Earth.
Why go to the expense of a trial like Jodie Arias and the shooter in Arizona way too much money was and will be wasted....both without a doubt are guilty so the death sentence is fitting.....why give them shelter, food, and health care for any type of individuals like this.....Now for the recent bombing at the Boston Marathon 1 dead (great) when they get the other one or 12 no matter how many let them know they will not see the sun set today and shoot their sorry ass.......senseless acts like this deserve quick justice....Criminals have no rights as far as I'm concerned.......Hats off to your thoughts I'm right along with your thoughts........

Wood chipper? So now we can add blood lust to the doc's litany of hate and anger issues....

melonhead- Is that all you have to say? You have not addressed my questions, apparently you would rather voice an opinion about me than address the topic. Why am I not surprised.

Sorry, doc - you set up the hypothetical questions and then answered them yourself in one of your usual anger filled tirades. Anybody who wishes to put another human being into a wood chipper is definitely not worth a reasoned response....
melonhead- I answered the questions as the to how I would handle the issues. I was hoping for other responses as to how others would deal with these recurring atrocities. I chose a wood chipper because the electric chair, death by injection, firing squad or hanging are, in my opinion, to quick and painless for real justice to be meted out for these murderers. They should suffer a slow and painful death. By doing so, many would feel that at least some justice had been administered. By the way,you haven't yet seen an "anger filled tirade" from me. I am just calmly stating my true feelings about dealing with these murderers. Have a nice day.

His object all sublime
He will achieve in time —
To let the punishment fit the crime —
The punishment fit the crime;
And make each prisoner pent
Unwillingly represent
A source of innocent merriment!
Of innocent merriment!
Dr Milled would have "gunned down on the spot" the teenager that was falsely identified as the suspect by the New York Post.

Who needs trials and the American Justice System after all? We have Rupert Murdoch.
pj- I believe you overlooked where I said " if apprehended while in the act of committing these murders". Did you miss that or do you need for someone to explain what I said and it's meaning for you? The key words are " apprehended in the act of committing these murders". Got it? I hope so.
DonDiego would support application of the present Laws and Punishments.

For the instances which drmilled cited, the State or local Courts should handle the issue in accordance with current Law. DonDiego suggests application of the Death Penalty in accordance with the State Laws is appropriate and sufficient. Massachusetts and Connecticut have abolished the Death Penalty; Don Diego suggests the harshest alternative punishment upon conviction.

DonDiego opines what he has just suggested is, in fact, real justice in accordance with Law. Appropriately applied Law is essential to a just society.

What drmilled proposes goes beyond any legal punishment within the United States. He is welcome to try to change the Laws in accordance with his wishes. He is likely to fail.

DonDiego has no ethical problem with the Death Penalty. He would not object if a State were to prescribe public execution. But torture serves no good purpose; that is why the Constitution prohibits it as punishment. In Wilkerson v. Utah, 99 U.S. 130 (1878), the Supreme Court commented that drawing and quartering, public dissection, burning alive, or disembowelment constituted cruel and unusual punishment regardless of the crime. DonDiego suspects the Court would also find insertion into a wood-chipper unsuitable.

Indeed, if the criminals were confronted in the act of committing their atrocities, of course any action necessary to stop them is appropriate, . . . even stuffing them in a wood chipper, if that is the only deterrent available. DonDiego must remember to take his wood chipper with him wherever he travels, . . . just in case. So far as DonDiego can determine no State has a prohibition of open carry of one's wood chipper.
