Thank you Doc, there for a minute I thought you were sleeping on the job. Thanks for reminding me that Obama is the a socialist.

I think its only fair that this is called a "win" for the Obama Administration. They litigated in favor of it and they won. It's about time this sitting President of 5.5 years starts getting "credit" for something other than ObamaCare.

Now it they would only get "credit" for Benghazi, the IRS scandals, snooping on reporters / the public at large, fast and furious, and the deterioration of the US as a super power, we might be getting somewhere...
What's the matter? Too embarrassed to mention Born In Kenya! - even though your icon is a birther symbol.

It is not the Supreme Court's job to decide what is "right and wrong", but instead ONLY to accurately interpret the Constitution and the laws on the books.

I think it's BS to tax people who just got thrown out of their jobs, especially with todays unemployment woes.Good job Obama, YOU WON, you(I know)get to keep more of the now unemployed's money

Paychecks get taxed. Severence packages are essentially paychecks. I fail to see the problem. I fail to even understand how it made its way into court...it seems pretty obvious to me.

When the airline I used to work for went under I paid taxes on my severance pay..and my remaining vacation pay...and on the subsequent unemployment checks I got from the government.

I would have preferred to not pay taxes. I'd love to not pay taxes now. But the government needs money to operate. Even our resident conservatives agree...Remember how upset they got when we had to close the monuments in Washington? Ooooo, that was ugly.

PJ, whe I got layed off in 2009, they did the same thing. Tax the severance, vacation, and unemployment monies.

John,

Only one thing is certain Death and Taxes. If the government could figure out how to tax dead people until the government is gone, they would.

The government does tax the dead.

I did get a surprise a few weeks ago that relates to the OP.
I will be retiring in a few months and filed all my paperwork with HR. I have a few extra weeks of vacation "in the bank" that i will not be using and asked about the payout for that time. Though it isn't too much time, I expected a good check since I figured "payroll taxes" would not be taken out. Surprise!!! Payroll taxes will be taken out of my vacation pay out. :-(
Oh well. It still should cover a 5 day trip to vegas.

That theory [that Senator Obama was not a natural-born citizen] first emerged in the spring of 2008, as Clinton supporters circulated an anonymous email questioning Obama’s citizenship.

“Barack Obama’s mother was living in Kenya with his Arab-African father late in her pregnancy. She was not allowed to travel by plane then, so Barack Obama was born there and his mother then took him to Hawaii to register his birth,” asserted one chain email that surfaced on the urban legend site Snopes.com in April 2008.

My icon is not a "birther symbol" --- it a copy of a portion of the birth certificate posted by my President. Apparently, the doctor who signed it had a sense of humor! Go figure.
