Reno

Hubby and I were trying to think of something new to do but still wanted to gamble. Thinking Reno might be an option. I was wondering what property had the best rooms, nicest casino, etc what other things can you do ie sightseeing etc. can you actually drive down to Lake Tahoe or is it mostly privately owned?
The 2 nicest properties in Reno are the Atlantis & The Peppermill. The drive to Lake Tahoe takes a little longer than an hour, but well worth it. Yes, you can drive/walk down to the actual lake, in many places. If you like to ski, then Winter is perfect to visit Lake Tahoe. If you're not into winter sports, Tahoe can be difficult to get to in winter, think mountain passes, chains on tires, etc.

Love your kitty on your avatar.
We would do April most likely.

In April, weather can be hit or miss. Once I arrived at the Lake on Memorial Day. It was their first 70 degree day of the year. If you were to go to the Lake a little later in the year, try to take the Tahoe Star cruise around Emerald Bay. There's a very good restaurant at Camp Richardson. Weather permitting, you can sit outside and enjoy your meal. The Lone Eagle Grill, Incline Village, is also very good.

Have you thought about going to New Orleans? Tons of things to see and do and a casino.
Also consider Laughlin - a lot nicer than Reno

Thanks for your comment on the cat - she's huge & fluffy - pretty much a "rag doll " cat.
MissL7777 is right about Tahoe, Summer is the best time to visit - we were lucky the last time we went, last weekend in September, 79 degrees, unusually warm.

If you have a choice, stay in Tahoe, as opposed to Reno.

Thanks. Mentioned it to hubby and got no reaction. Also mentioned Washington state.

I suggest waiting until MidJune/earlyJuly-the end of September for Washington State, summers rock here, but the other 9 months are gray, wet, and blah!
