I have been a teacher for 33 years now and yet to meet a pedophile. Some teacher somewhere must have done something to you for you to be this bitter. There are some great teachers in my district.

Yes there are great teachers in every district. There are also pedophiles in just about

every district. Anyone who googles the words TEACHER SENTENCED can see the truth.
Yet the FIVE MILLION children molested by members of these leftist unions are ignored by the national leftist media and the political party that thrives off teacher union money and support.
In both New York and Colorado the majority party wanted to extend the statute of limitations on sex crimes...with one exception-members of the leftist teacher unions.

National Media Largely Ignore Public-School Sex Scandals

Some estimate 5 million students have been involved.

The mainstream media have heavily covered sex-abuse scandals in the Catholic Church, but some say the national news media have ignored an estimated 5 million students who have been sexually abused by their public-school teachers.

Terri Miller, president of Stop Educator Sexual Abuse, Misconduct and Exploitation, suggested a cover up by school officials.

"Reports aren't being made by administrators when these allegations come to light," she said. "They are allowing too many teachers to quietly resign and move on to go molest somebody else's children."

Miller says the percentage of teachers who molest students is small, but when they're allowed to quietly resign, it casts a cloud of suspicion over all educators. She called it 'passing the trash' and said school administrators should be held to account.

Bob Unruh has kept a running list of teacher-student sex scandals for WorldNetDaily.

"The procedures are not really set up to publicize and let people know about predators," he said, "but really to conceal and to protect that person's tenure or protect a job, or allow them to resign and move on to another location."

Bob Knight, director with the Culture and Media Institute, said the media have been no-shows on covering the larger scandal.

"If the media treated the school scandals they way they treated the Catholic Church," he said, "they'd be calling for reforms, top to bottom, they'd be questioning the validity of the institutions themselves."

There are pedophiles in every job. Why are YOU just picking on teachers??? What's your problem with teachers? There are classes for your problem.

melbe is simply having trouble distinguishing between heterosexual sex between a 22 year old and a 15 year old, which does NOT involve coercion, and homosexual sex between a 45 year old and a 7 year old, which DOES involve coercion.

I think we all can understand how melbe might get confused about which is worse. It's a very fine line. A lot of people might not understand the difference.

Note that the story cited by melbe contains no references to any teachers' union. Nor does it refer to the victims as students of the teacher. It does not contain any references to any cover-up, nor does it infer that the teacher was allowed to continue teaching after the allegations.

In other words, the story cited by melbe does not support his argument in any way. Citation of facts that do not lend support to one's argument is called a "red herring."

NYC alone averages over 200 cases per year where teachers were found to have had inapropriate contact with children. During one 2 month period early in the year, 5 teachers were arrested for sexual molestation
