What I said was that the level of incompetence was the same, the difference is in how the media reports it. For Katrina the response was reported as a disaster, for Sandy it isn't.

President Bush was killed in the media for being on vacation, while it is ok for Obama to go off campaigning. 7 days now and many areas have no power, food, water or gas.

Meanwhile we have nanny bloomberg who spent the summer worrying about Big Gulps and butter popcorn and wanted to run a race thru this mess.

The level of competency must be judged, to a large degree, by the people affected by the storm. I have many friends and co-workers without power. They are coping. I've heard no one complaining about the government's response to the disaster. They all understand that the "powers that be" are doing the best they can with the situation. No expects the president to be on the ground delivering gas or food to people.

Christie is getting very high grades on his handling of the situation not just by his leadership, but also by praising Obama and not getting into a political partisan issue.

The bottom line is that it's going to take some time to get all the power restored. The town next to mine has set up a rescue area for some people displaced by the storm. A local kids' hockey team is organizing a donation area. I dropped some stuff off at lunch time and the area was very busy with people donating.

Bottom line is that we appreciate all the government can do but we're not thinking that they are 100% responsible for the clean-up and care of our displaced neighbors.

hoops2 said it, you agreed. Don't worry about what I put in your mouth (nothing), pay more attention to who you agree with.

I guess community organizers are just good at this kind of stuff.

DonDiego is glad that he never posted his opinion on these matters, . . . just the news reports. Oh, . . . and that history of the toothbrush bit.

If he were to post an opinion he'd say that the fellow looking down the barrel of the handgun pr'bly found it more important than arshaleign [AKA forkush] does. But he isn't gonna.

***************Breaking News*****************

This just in:
A crime has been committed in the nations largest city!

Stay tuned for more obvious news, presented in a very strange way.

More bad news for those who hate Americans and like to think the worst about them. From Reuters today:

"Crime in New York City decreased 27 percent in the week since superstorm Sandy made landfall compared with the same period a year ago, and burglaries and disputes in gas station lines accounted for most of the storm-related arrests, police said on Monday.

"From Monday to Sunday, murder dropped by 86 percent, rape by 41 percent, robbery by 21 percent, assault by 19 percent, larceny by 47 percent and car thefts by 20 percent. Burglaries rose by 6 percent.

"'With seven full days to compare, including this past weekend, overall crime is down 27 percent for the week,' New York police spokesman Paul Browne said in a statement."

Sad that their paranoid fearmongering never quite seems to jibe with reality. Sad for them, that is, great for the rest of us.
Adding to the misery 6 to 10 inches of snow yesterday, people are still freezing without homes - where is fema?

Out of the last 11 days I have had 6 days with no power, 2 nights with no power and 3 days with several daily outages of 10 minutes or more.

And I am not even in the worst areas
