The Second Wave

Hey, let's find something we can all agree on, okay?

Isn't it great that DonDiego's turf, the Appalachians, was spared by Sandy. After all, it's very hard to identify the deceased there because 1) All the DNA matches, and 2) There are no dental records.

That's pretty good, I think DD will like it.

Old joke. or an original?

51-never said GW nailed it. Interesting how people try and put words and insinuations in ones mouth.

And forky, if you're gonna go for humor, at least try and be original and above 4th grade level man. I'm certain you can do better.

Surprisingly, the toothbrush was invented in Appalachia. If it had been invented anywhere else, it'd've been called a "teethbrush".
What I said was that the level of incompetence was the same, the difference is in how the media reports it. For Katrina the response was reported as a disaster, for Sandy it isn't.

President Bush was killed in the media for being on vacation, while it is ok for Obama to go off campaigning. 7 days now and many areas have no power, food, water or gas.

Meanwhile we have nanny bloomberg who spent the summer worrying about Big Gulps and butter popcorn and wanted to run a race thru this mess.

For those who haven't clicked on the links, they contain:

1) Interviews with people who are terrified!!!!!! of looters.
2) No actual incidents of looting.

Go figure.

Yeah I saw those pictures in the article. One guy was posing with his bow and arrow. Another posing with a baseball bat. And someone else described booby trapping a door.

Good for them. That's probably more than adequate, since there has been little looting so far.

The level of competency must be judged, to a large degree, by the people affected by the storm. I have many friends and co-workers without power. They are coping. I've heard no one complaining about the government's response to the disaster. They all understand that the "powers that be" are doing the best they can with the situation. No expects the president to be on the ground delivering gas or food to people.

Christie is getting very high grades on his handling of the situation not just by his leadership, but also by praising Obama and not getting into a political partisan issue.

The bottom line is that it's going to take some time to get all the power restored. The town next to mine has set up a rescue area for some people displaced by the storm. A local kids' hockey team is organizing a donation area. I dropped some stuff off at lunch time and the area was very busy with people donating.

Bottom line is that we appreciate all the government can do but we're not thinking that they are 100% responsible for the clean-up and care of our displaced neighbors.
