Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the kind words. Needless to say, I was extremely touched by this offer. It really does depend on the age thing and they do have a "swap" program at this hospital as well. What that means is if several people have living donors but aren't a match, and are still willing to donate, they can coordinate with others.
Say sallys friend wants to donate but doesn't match sally, and say dick is in the same boat(has a donor but doesn't match). If dicks friend matches sally and sallys friend matches dicks, they end up "swapping" donors. I think the coordinator sadi they got like eight people at one time that were fortunate to have this happen. As one could imagine, the cards have to fall just right along with the stars aligning just right for this to happen .
