Should I have Cataract Surgery?

Here is one I can't believe I am 45 years old. Why the hell do I have a cataract in my right eye?
I found this out when I went to get some new eyeglasses this morning because my frame was broke.
I had assumed my prescription had changed because my vision in my right eye was fuzzy since my last exam a little less than two years ago. So now I go in and get told that is a cataract. Doc told me it will get progressively worse , but now even with brand new eye glasses that eye is still hazy. My left eye is still perfectly clear.

Anyone have any experience with this and what do you recommend?
What do we know, we're just Las Vegas fans.

You really should ask medical questions like this in a Canadian Quilting forum.
My wife had basically 20/400 in both eyes. Our eye doctor discovered the cataracts during a routine exam. She had the surgery done and now she has 20/20 in both eyes. I will say she now needs reading glasses. It is strange because I was the one with the "good" eyes and now she see things I don't.

Our insurance covered the laser surgery and it was a breeze.

As with all things your mileage may vary.
Cataract doesn't improve. Get it done. Get a surgeon who does them all the time and has a good reputation. You'll be glad you did.

There is always a risk and in the worst case scenario with surgery could be blindness, which happened to someone I know, true story. Malibber2 it seems that when it rains, it pours. You may want to avoid the casinos for now.
Both my mom and dad had cataract surgery, and the results were excellent. Their eyesight was much better afterward, and they didn't have any post-operative problems.
I had cataract surgery done about 6 years ago in both eyes when I was 50. I was having a lot of trouble driving at night with so much glare. Almost immediately after the surgery my eyesight was so improved. I was stunned at how much more detail I was seeing. I do have to wear "readers" for close up work but am so glad to be rid of glasses all the time. Get the surgery done, you won't regret it!
I've had both eyes done. Very simple and the results are seen soon after. The lens they put in can either be so you can see far or near. Most people choose to see far so they don't need glasses for driving and just wear reading glasses. They do have lenses that do both. In any case discuss it with your doctor which is best for you. I was fortunate, I chose the far sighted lenses so I didn't need glasses when driving but somehow I am able to read with no problem. I get my eyes checked twice a year and this past Saturday, and the doc said my vision is 20/25 in both eyes. Healthy and strong. Good Luck!!
When my Grandmother had cataract surgery in the early 60's it was considered a risky operation and people put it off as long as possible. Then, you spent at least 2 weeks hospitalized after surgery with your head completely immobilized.

Today, it's one of the most common outpatient surgeries performed in the US. The actual surgery takes only 10-15 minutes and you're back home in a couple of hours.

I agree.
I had my eyes done & have no problems. There are lenses that can be implanted
that have reading & distance capabilities, but they are not covered by insurance.
I chose distance & have to wear reading glasses.
My doctor was rated as a "TOP DOC" in the area.
He only does laser eye surgery & teaches laser eye surgery at Willis Eye Hospital.
