So What's The Deal With Soda?

I don't know what's going on in your area, but her in SoCal, they have soda on sale at say 3 for $9.99 BUT you must buy 3!!! Or they have 12 packs on sale at 4 for $10 but you must buy 4!! And it seems that every supermarket is doing the same thing!!

I went to a Stater Bros. yesterday and picked up a 12 pack of Diet Coke with Lime, since Pepsi somehow dropped their Diet Pepsi w/Lime, and when I got to the cashier, he told me it was going to be $4.99 UNLESS I bought 3 12 packs. Is that not ridiculous?

When other sales go on sale for a price, they usually give you the price divided by whatever the sale price is currently. So if tomato sauce is on sale for 3 for 99c, if you buy one can it's 33c. But it seems that only soda makes you buy 3 12 packs for $9.99. Same thing with 2 liter bottles. They might be $1.25 a 2 liter bottle, but you must buy 4 for $5.

Normally, I really don't care, but it's starting to get to me that I MUST buy 3 or 4 to get the sale price. Is this happening in your area, or is it only happening in the SoCal area? Let's see what the price of your soda is in your area!

Vons has "Buy 2 twelve packs get 3 twelve packs free"...today through Sunday. They just want to get you into the store so you'll buy National Enquirer and a Snickers at checkout. That's where the real money is.

Dallas Texas area. We can get a 24 can case for $5 each. Sometimes you have to wait two weeks to find this however. This week it is at Tom Thumb stores. They do the same buy two get three free thing here too. Or buy two get two free.

Quit whining Bags! Just grab some whiskey and some Solo cups (red) while you're in there to go along with the soda, drive up to the Silverton, and have a party.

Here they do that buy 2 get 2 free crap only it's like 6.99 for a 12 pack. It's really irritating to me because I only want an occasional soda. I don't need 48 cans of it at once and I also don't have a lot of room to store it. I think it's a trick to get you to buy store brands instead.

I'd much rather have a Red Bull or a Crystal Lite energy drink.

N.E. IL same thing...must buy 4 for the sale price. Jewel and Ultra-Foods used to have a $10 minimum purchase not including the soda.
I admit I am a caffeine-free diet Pepsi junkie. This week at Ultra they have the 6-24oz. bottles 4/$8.88,must by 4, limit 8...no minimum purshase. I was there this AM, should hold me over until the next sale. My other guilty drink is Perrier. Always wait for the coupon at Costco, limit 4, but I go to C/S desk and get another coupon book. Right now, we have 7 cases...this should hold us through the summer.

I've noticed the last few years or even longer, that there seems to be a sale on it right before a holiday and this is Memorial Day weekend.
