Tattoos one more time

I have one small one that only shows if I'm wearing a bikini or nothing at all.
It hasn't offended anyone yet.

I don't think the issue is whether the tattoo "offends" anyone.

I think it's more that tattoos often cause others, justified or not, to think that the tattooed person is unsophisticated or uneducated or needs attention or lacks self-esteem.

Rightly or wrongly, is having Tinkerbell on your arm really worth enduring that judgment from friends, family, employers and business associates?

It might offend me if I see it...can that be arranged?

My wife's friend had been divorced for about 5 years, started dating a guy for about a month before giving in to his needs. She fell in love with the guy and she went out and got a tattoo with his name on her left breast. The guy dumped her and told her, that she was the type of person that they could have had a great long relationship, he thinks women are sexy with tattoos, for one nighters only, not to have as a girlfriend or to marry them...(
Back in the good old days, she might have considered getting pregnant to cement the relationship. Or if she was capable, getting him to become financially entangled or dependent.

Her clinging behavior is what this story is really about; the tattoo is just an artifact.

Anything is possible.

I admire treegirl for stepping out on a limb, that takes courage. By the way I don't mind being offended, is anything possible for me too (LOL).

Our son just turned 18 and has mentioned getting a tat, fortunately the subject matter isn't offensive(well maybe to an atheist) but I expressed my apprehension about the idea, fr now anyway. I guess I'm very fortunate I ave the relationship I do with him, when It comes to serious issues or discussions on life(guess thats how i'll phrase that), he'll actually listen to me when we sit down and talk. I told him of course hes' free to do whatever he wants to do, its' his body, but I thought It would be much wiser to not only a possible rethink of the subject matter but to definitely wait til hes' at least 25 to get one. Perhaps have at least a little bit of a first step in life by then, out of college and first job. I am happy to say I wasn't surprised that he saw it my way or at least took everything I said to heart and tat plans are on hold.

As previously stated they don't age particularly well and are forever. I've seen some older women(and guys) who looked they've ridden a very looong ride thru life and look pretty rough. And..like it or not, tats bring a certain amount of judgement, from almost none to extreme. Personally I've never evn thought about getting one and I have no problem with anyone getting inked at all, well maybe a little, a girl who has 'em ALL over her body Is a bit overboard, but hey, not my body.

Tattoos used to be a form of rebellion. Now, getting one is perhaps the least rebellious thing a young person can do...it's more like running with the pop crowd. Maybe you can discourage your son by pointing this out.
Tatoos are awful.

F'rinstance, . . . this one. Quite awful, . . . indeed, . . . absolutely awful.
