So, the jury is in on evolution? Is it real?

Hey professor, learn how to link.

Are you more knowledgeable than one of the leading evolutionists of our time? If not I'll just let him answer for me.

One of the reasons I started taking this anti-evolutionary view, or let’s call it a non-evolutionary view, was last year I had a sudden realization for over twenty years I had thought I was working on evolution in some way. One morning I woke up and something had happened in the night, and it struck me that I had been working on this stuff for twenty years and there was not one thing I knew about it. That’s quite a shock to learn that one can be so misled so long. Either there was something wrong with me or there was something wrong with evolutionary theory. Naturally, I know there is nothing wrong with me, so for the last few weeks I’ve tried putting a simple question to various people and groups of people.

Question in: Can you tell me anything you know about evolution, any one thing, any one thing that is true? I tried that question on the geology staff at the Field Museum of Natural History and the only answer I got was silence. I tried it on the members of the Evolutionary Morphology Seminar in the University of Chicago, a very prestigious body of evolutionists, and all I got there was silence for a long time and eventually one person said, ‘I do know one thing – it ought not to be taught in high school.’

The late Dr. Colin Patterson, Senior Paleontologist at the British Museum of Natural History in London

In a thread created to show the scientific superiority of the tea party, you doubt evolution by quoting a guy that asked creationists to stop misquoting him. The one scientist that creationists drag out every time they want to pretend to be well informed.

"Patterson rejected the creationist interpretations of his sayings."

Baggers

Imagine that. A guy whose livelihood and career is based on evolution backtracking from comments that would jeopardize it all. He spoke over 200 words in 10 sentences. One can hardly be taken out of context when one speaks that much.

I don't believe in evolution, but I can fathom how someone can believe in evolution controlled by God. I can't fathom for a second how anyone can believe in evolution otherwise. The sun didn't end up just the right distance from the earth by happenstance. Scientists have been laboring in laboratories all over the world for over 100 years and haven't been able to create the simplest organism. The human body's brain and eyes defy logic. There are over 100,000 miles of blood vessels in the body. The engineering of the bone system is so much more complex than anything man has ever created. Over 100 billion people have lived on earth and out of all those people a new species has yet to arise.

I'm dumbfounded how anyone can believe in natural selection. A big bang(where did the material come from) occurred billions of years ago and the sun, earth, and rest of the solar system landed just right suspended in space. A single cell organism(along with air and water among other things) was also created from this blast and has evolved over billions of years into the human body. Believing in this is pure stupidity.

I believe in God too, but I try to keep an open mind. When scientific facts don't match up with a literal interpretation of the Bible, I keep in mind that those stories are parables, and metaphors. Talking snakes and giants were never meant to be taken literally.

You're entitled to ignore science and believe whatever you want. I just think your choice of threads is ironic and unfortunate.

Uh oh, better check the temp in hell, on this matter I agree with 51 about 100%.
