Teen dies in CO. after eating pot cookie

Such a misleading headline. That's the headline that took me to this article.I'm waiting for the first O.D. headline linked to smoking a joint.
I am very sorry for the family that such a tragic thing happened tho, such a sad thing.

"A 19-year-old Wyoming college student on spring break in Colorado fell to his death after eating a pot-laced cookie, the Denver coroner said Wednesday, in what is believed to be the state’s first death linked to marijuana since legalization began in January."

I don't believe that there was enough information on your post or the article to decide if the death was caused by pot.

Two things come to mind, did he have any booze in his system and was the pot really the contributing factor.

Having been drunk and stoned out of my mind more times than I care to admit I have never once come close to going over a balcony.

Having grown up in Florida and spent spring break in Daytona several times I can tell you this all too common. Some people just can't handle getting high in any way shape or form.

I never had any of those thoughts when I was drunk

Supposedly this was his first time trying pot and they went there for spring break with the sole intent of trying pot. I have read that todays pot is so strong that a lot of first time users suffer extreme paranoia and anxiety attacks. Maybe that was the case. Anyway it is a shame and like I said some people just can't handle getting high.

Here is a lot more information https://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_25475533/denver-coroner-man-fell-death-after-eating-marijuana
"I have read that todays pot is so strong that a lot of first time users suffer extreme paranoia and anxiety attacks"

And yet we legalize it.

Due to my job requiring drug testing I have been out of the loop for 33 years when it comes to pot. What I have been told by friends who live in California is that people first starting out should smoke it. Do a hit or two and wait 15 or so minutes. If that didn't do it repeat and wait 15 minutes. That way you won't over do it. What the guy in the article did was eat a cookie or more and he must have had way too much in system and then it was too late.

He was 19, you have to be 21 to purchase it so this has zero precedence on the legalization issue.

Good point. Much like a teen that gets drunk for the first time with booze that was bought by his buddy and then does something stupid.

Treegirl your hubby is a cop what does he think about legalization?
