"Kill da wabbit! Kill da wabbit! Kill da wabbit!"
[to The Ride of the Valkyries]

This music(and cartoon) always makes me think of one back to school night back when our son was in seventh grade, you know the one where you go class to class and meet all the teachers?

Well this was a dark and stormy night(i'm serious, no kidding around) and it was time to move on to the music room, which turned out was a huge cavernous place full of every instrument imaginable along with about 150 parents. So the teacher goes into his spiel and starts to demonstrate some of the instruments they'll be learning and he got to these enormous kettle drums and starts banging away 'emboom BOOM boom BOOM that a huge flash of lightening illuminates the entire room and a second later a huge CA RAAACK! fills the room and all I could think of was "kill da wabbit, kill da wabbit", my wife gave me an elbow with a stern SHUSH but judging from all the laughter around us every single parent got it.

Also that list doesn't include names AND addresses of private citizens. But I agree, it probably wasn't the best move in the world but not nearly as asinine as what that newspaper did.
It's not the size of the list that matters; it's the content:

_____Supporters of the Second Amendment______

You've confused supporting the Second Amendment with supporting the NRA.

Most people support the Second Amendment. There's just this troublesome minority who think that the words "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state" don't mean anything, that the only important words in it are "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

As lots of holes in the ground around Newtown, Aurora, Blacksburg, Killeen, and Columbine attest, our current gun policies don't reflect good regulation of militias, do not help our free state remain secure, and are wholly inconsistent with the goals of the Second Amendment.

You really don't understand the second amendment. Maybe Penn and Teller can clear it up for you.

Thank you for sharing with me a famous comedy magic duo's analysis of a portion of the U.S. Constitution.

To return the favor, you may enjoy reading what Justice John Paul Stevens of the Supreme Court of the United States once wrote about that same portion of our Constitution. Appointed by President Gerald Ford, Justice Stevens served 34 years on the court and always struck me as pretty wise about the U.S. Constitution.

About the 2nd, Justice Stevens once wrote:

When each word in the text is given full effect, the Amendment is most naturally read to secure to the people a right to use and possess arms in conjunction with service in a well-regulated militia. So far as appears, no more than that was contemplated.
(Emphasis added).

Yes, And Justice Stevens lost just about every public debate he ever participated in.

For two long, excruciating years my wife clerked for Justice Ginsberg. There were many social gatherings that I was apart of. It never took long for friendly debates to pop up and personal opinions to be aired. On the second ammendment I have always held to the belief that a citizen should be able to arm himself to the extent of the basic military foot soldier. It is my belief this was the intent of the framers of the constitution. Justice Ginsberg merely smiled and said " I never liked the intent of the framers."
On another occasion and a different issue, she told me I could have an opinion when I managed to get myself appointed to the court.
It's amazing I survived my wife's wrath at the end of these dinners.
