Things That Make One Go "Hmm"

Yes checkpoints a tall fence and video surveillance would do the job better than armed guards.

Again I say this with all due respect to you sir but this brings up a serious question for everybody I suppose.

Would you rather have your child being educated behind a tall fence or with an armed guard? I guess since we're throwing it out there., Neither?

I somehow have a problem with kids being educated behind a tall fence with a checkpoint. It's seems so checkpoint charlie to me. I guess you'd have to show papers too to get in. I'm not totally thrilled that we have to have armed guards in school now, but that's the way it is currently. My sister is a sgt. in a smallish town police force and has been assigned as the DARE officer there for years and she's fully packin'. My son's high school here in our little suburb has had an armed officer there(maybe two?)since he went through.

Or would anyone prefer nothing at all?

The Journal News has removed the published handgun permit data fromĀ its website.

Oh, and it is not a concession to critics nor a result of intimidation.

I'm thinkin' all K-12 education should be home schooling conducted by an approved educational computer program..supplemented by parents, with occasional video conferences with live teachers. Should be able to turn out better high school grads than we have now....at around age 10....and no worries about drugs, violence, gangs or bad cafeteria food.
