As stated before I am a gun owner and I hate to see my rights reduced in any way shape or form but I must say I just can't see the point of an AR 15 or a 30 shot clip.
The real chuckler is when people tell me what is going to prevent the government from taking over when the citizens don't have any guns. Like that compound in Idaho is really going to hold up to carpet bombs. Go figure.

I'm afraid you might have misunderstood my point. I am constantly getting emails from friends, and yes they are friends of mine, that hate Obama. They know I support him, although I don"t always agree with him. Anyway several of these emails have references to Hitler, China etc and they show the slaughter of innocent people with the caption such as "Gun control is great as long as you are the one controlling the gun." Then they go on to say what is to prevent this from happening here when the government takes are guns. My point is our guns will not do any good against the government if, God forbid it ever comes to that. Me personally I don't think it will ever come to that. I also don't think any form of gun control will prevent another Columbine, Newton, etc.
What I do think will prevent it is to have strong controls on who get in and out of our schools, something like an approved list and stop them at the parking lot, not at the front doors.
Having said that I don't have any heartburn with background checks, limiting the size and types of weapons we can purchase etc.
Anyway I think you misunderstood my point I was trying to be sarcastic to all of the sky is falling, conspiracy type people.
