Why is playing an NFL game is okay and "feel good" stuff yet running is wrong?

Football is way more important than running.

There's nothing wrong with having the NFL game, but I also don't get the transformative, "feel good" claims attributed to playing a game.

However, running a marathon through New York City would have taken resources, police and other public safety employees, and equipment, that was probably best routed to storm victims. And one pretty great thing, some runners loaded up backpacks and ran supplies to victims.

For the first time I agree with forky

An investigation showed that there were more than 40 generators scattered around the city reserved for the marathon. In addition there were over 50,000 sandwiches, 50,000 blankets, thousands of cases of water & a Saturday night pasta dinner for the 50,000 runners.

The Steelers chose to fly in & out on Sunday rather than taking up hotel space that was being used for other purposes

The "feel good" comment was made by one of the announcers. I can't argue facts on generators and city workers but the mayor said nothing would have been diverted from the disaster and on to the run. This was just an observation, I'm not dying to debate it.
Nanny bloomberg was full of dog poo poo when he said that. The marathon requires thousands of cops for crowd & traffic control, as well as medical teams & ambulances along the route to aid the runners as well as shutting down streets.

Less than 2 miles from the starting line are people living in tents
Woman at work told me there are looters in her neighborhood stealing generators in the middle of the night while the occupants are sleeping. They are recording the generators and then playing back the generator sound via boom box so that people hear their generator and don't know anything was stolen until the house gets cold at night. She said since each generator has its own sound, the looters are making custom recordings of each generator.

Seems wacky to me but could be true.

Right, crooks are bringing in self-powered amps, speakers, and recording devices so they can steal shit. I've also heard the fairy tale that the bad guys are dressing up as utility workers so they can burgle your stuff. Snopes will have a field day with this stuff.

But I guess if you really WANT to believe something, sometimes you do.
I could see a thief trading an old boom box for a generator. I bet they get a nice price for a generator in the right neighborhood.
A cousin of my nephew's uncle's brother told me that thieves are secretly sneaking into restaurants and replacing their fine coffee with Folger's Crystals. Let's see if they notice!
