Todays QOD Carrying cash through the airport

I am curious as to how most others get their bankroll to Vegas with them. I will never pay the outrageous ATM fees and hate going to the bank while in Vegas, even though my bank has quite a few local branches. I always carry my cash (usually between 4-6k) in a sealed envelope in a storage type clip-board along with my MRB coupon book and whatever other Vegas related paperwork such as room confirmation numbers, coupons, etc. I leave this clip-board in my back pack and always keep a close watch on where it is and the only time I lose sight of it is when it is actually in the scanner. I have never been questioned by TSA about having a large sum of cash. I also wouldn't feel comfortable "holding onto" a large sum of cash going through the X-ray machine essentially flasshing it for anyone to see.
I have a few pairs of pants with cargo type pockets near the knee. I just "forget" to empty them and I've never been stopped. All paper money of course. Last time we flew my plan was to wait until my daughter had cleared the metal detector and then send all of our stuff through so she could wait at the end but they ended up pulling her aside because the little girl looked like a terrorist and they needed to swab her bag for some reason.
Me and my wife carry $500 each and write markers,so I'm gambling on their money and settle up before we checkout.
Another vote for the cargo pants (or shorts) and leave the cash in the pocket. I've been doing this the past several trips. I like keeping the cash on me and like the Velcro sealed pockets.

The last time we were in Vegas, two years ago, there was an ATM at the Casino Royale that only charged $1.00. That would also be on top of your bank fees as well. If anyone can verify that, it might help a lot of people.

I carry my gambling cash in my tote bag, several thousands, goes through the scanner, no issues.

First few trips to Vegas thought I needed to do Travelers Checks. Decided those are just a PIA. Why bother?

But, each to his own.

Maybe you could just write a personal check and cash it at the cage.

I don't recall this idea ever being mentioned. Are you sure?

Wow. Great idea. They ought to put that in in the FAQ's.
