Transparency

“This is the most transparent administration in history.” __The Obama, 14 February 2013

July 7 2014:
"Certain members of the media received this morning an invitation from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to a showcase “tour” of the HHS facility housing Unaccompanied Alien Children at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.
Congressman Jim Bridenstine is encouraging members of the media to reject the limitations proposed by HHS."

Wait a minute ! Why would a Congressman encourage reporters to not "tour" the facility housing illegal minors?

As luck would have it, the Congressman has posted the invitation on his website. It includes the following, . . umm, . . . "RULES" for those reporters who wish to participate:
- No recording devices will be allowed
- No questions will be allowed during the tour
- No interacting with staff and children at the shelter
- We ask that your questions be provided via email or phone after the tour to Kenneth Wolfe
- HHS ACF public affairs will provide answers to your follow up questions as quickly as possible
- We will provide photos of the facility after the tour
- There will be no on-site interviews by HHS staff before or after the tour, all inquiries go to Kenneth Wolfe

Ref: Congressman Bridenstine

Ahh, . . . transparency ! ! ! Isn't it great to live in such free, open times.

Typing is so old-school. DonDiego recommends fried mush create a bookmark for efficiency in arriving on the Las Vegas Advisor.

Congressman Bridenstein = Barack Obama.
Thank you, DonDiego.

I suspect they are protecting the privacy and annonymity of the children. Its generally a well respected rule the press does not interact with children without parental consent...especially children who are victims of crime or other oppression.

Thats why, for example, you dont see pictures floating around on the internet of the girl who was stabbed 19 times in Wisconsin by her friends...story

I'm curious to know what "transparency" DonDiego is after. The number of children and photos of the facility are provided. Does DonDiego want James O'Keefe slapping a microphone into the face of an 8 year old without his mother's consent?

DonDiego's preference is to send all those crossing the border illegally back home.

So far as transparency:
__allow recording devices to record what is going on; it is news.
__allow questions during the tour; expect truthful accurate answers. It is news.
__allow non-intrusive-interactions with the staff and children to find out what's going on; it is news.
__allow reporters/photographers to take their own photographs to show what is going on; it is news.
__allow on-site interviews with HHS staff before, during, and after the "tour" to determine what is going on; it is news.

This is called reporting. It's what reporters used to do. [DonDiego trusts this message will be preserved so that future generations may know what reporting used to mean.]

What is happening is a propaganda tour, . . . oops, . . . no, it's a "showcase tour". DonDiego apologizes for the inadvertent slip; he will be more obedient in the future.

Holy-Moly. If an unescorted press were able to take photographs or even just observe illegal immigrants being abused or harassed or even stabbed in the HHS facilities, . . . that would be real news !

If these were/are the main points ,then why did they turn the congressman and only the congressman away to begin with?

From Dondiego's link:

Congressman Jim Bridenstine is encouraging members of the media to reject the limitations proposed by HHS. “The idea of no recording devices, no questions, and no interactions is not acceptable. This violates the 1st Amendment. This is not transparent. HHS is trying to muzzle the media and hide the human tragedy that has resulted directly from the Administration’s failure to enforce the law.”

People with agendas are not reporters and the Congressman's agenda is clear: Both he and DonDiego don't mind exploiting children to make a bogus political point that children are fleeing oppression because of Obama. I'm happy to disagree with their conclusion and their desire for exploitation porn ... I suspect the children's parents are happy to disagree too.

Without limitations, the tour would likely turn chaotic, everyone running amok, reporters shouting questions (at staff and children), snapping opportunistic photographs. Think celebrity papparazi. Think presidential press conferences.

Reporters can take notes, report their observations.

They can file FOAs if they want to.

Question: Only "certain members of the media" being invited. Which ones?
