Video Poker Software Bug Exploited They Made Over 500K

Quoted from www.wired.com

"The key to the glitch was that under just the right circumstances, you could switch denomination levels retroactively. That meant you could play at 1 cent per credit for hours, losing pocket change, until you finally got a good hand—like four aces or a royal flush. Then you could change to 50 cents a credit and fool the machine into re-awarding your payout at the new, higher denomination."

Here is the whole article.

The problem with almost all of these people who find a way to cheat is that they are too greedy and they don't space out their wins and when they gamble.

Huh?

The guy in Las Vegas got away with it. The Federal Prosecution was dropped and he kept his winnings. All the while DonDiego was reading the reference, he was thinking all they did was sit at a machine and press buttons. There's no rule against that! And, eventually, the prosecutors realized they couldn't win.

A HAPPY ENDING !

i don't think Double D understands. Even if this is glitch in the software that he took advantage of, he went and killed the golden goose by winning too much on a machine they knew could not statistically win that much. Yes you may go into it and know you would probably win in court, but do you really want to be arrested and pay the legal fees? Plus you get the casinos to pull the machines or have them fixed, meaning you can no longer do it.

Yes, I wasn't referring to whether they cheated or not. I was referring to being stupid about it. I wouldn't have shared this little secret with anyone, not even my best friend. I would have gone in and won one, maybe two jackpots and then I would have never used my little trick again that day. I most likely would have stuck around playing normally and lost 25% of my winnings back and then left.

I most likely would go back and not use my secret again the next one or two times I returned, if I returned anytime within a couple of months.

There is no telling how long they could have gotten away with it if they were smart about it.

I would have gone in won a couple of times, gone to a different casino a few days later. Then a few weeks later, rince and repeat. Never do your thing at the same casino for about a month or 2. Go back and just play whatever, just no VP until it's time to "hit".

Of course the guy in Philly had his winnings returned to the Casino and now the IRS wants him pay income tax on money that was confiscated.
