Watch-Out @ Payless Car Rental

My auto insurance covers collision, my southwest credit card covers the deductible and other things. They still try and push stuff on you. Payless is the worst, I think. I think I used Advantage last time, and they were 100% nicer and quicker.
I've rented from Payless 3 times in the last 18 months with absolutely no problems. But than I have their express card which specifiys my preferances and bypasses the boothie. I've never been over-charged.
That being said, I prefer Budget which almost always has lower rates than the other majors and gives me great service.
For those of you who read Consumer Reports, there is an article in the January 2014 issue (page 10) on car rentals.

Maybe now all of you got a taste of what it's like signing up for Obamacare. First a feeling of hope because of "change", then when you think you've successfully completed the effort you see something you did not expect, and then comes the sticker shock, which in this new healthcare nightmare comes in the form of unreal deductibles and extraordinary co-pays. Smoke, mirrors, and bait & change at its very, very best.

Why does every thread on this site turn into a political one by rabid right wing partisans???? They need to start banning folks who cannot keep their political opinions to themselves. No one cares about your political opinons, enough already!

never waste a chance to blame the incumbent.
Thanks for all the stories, guys. I now understand that all my experiences with women were actually GOOD experiences.

I didn't know the SW credit card covered the deductible, good to know, thanks!

What are the "other things" it covers?

I was reading through it kind of fast, but I do believe they also cover the "lost time" issue where a car is laid up pending repairs. I would check to make sure. I know that's always a big selling point for the companies.

In all fairness to Payless.............

Just returned yesterday from a 2-phased journey. Phase 1 was Phoenix. Used Advantage. While the laundry list of items was offered and explained - and I have no problem with that - there were no high pressure tactics, etc. Was very pleased.

Phase 2 - Vegas. Payless was considerably cheaper, so I decided to go for it and prepared myself for a bit of a contest at the counter similar to my last experience. Total opposite.

Believe his name was Monte. Personable - noted I had rented from them before and thanked me for returning. Asked about coverage - said I was good - and that was that. No pressure to upgrade, buy gas, etc. And - no sneaky road service addition.

I didn't time him - but I was headed for the garage in a matter of minutes. Maybe 10 tops from when I walked in??

I'm sure it matters who you get, but no jousting with this guy, which means I will probably pick them again if the market dictates.

So I went with a couple of the discount firms this time and both turned out to be just fine. Merry Christmas to us!

I had noted in an earlier post my worst experience was with a guy at Alamo - but the more I thought about it - that didn't seem right. Looking at logistics in the Center the other day, my memory cleared up a little! Guy wasn't from Alamo - it was Thrifty. Total jerk.
