I have to agree with Snidely. I don't think it's a big deal,
but they should have done a soft-opening with invited guests only and than the next day open to the public.

Think of it like this: Monday is a soft opening, but they are letting the general public attend.

You obviously know nothing about public relations.

People respond much better to being told "you're not invited" than to "well, you can come. If you really want to. But, you'll have to park far away and walk 2 miles in the snow uphill both ways to get here because the good parking spaces are reserved for people more important than you."
