What is there to do in Laughlin?

I'm staying there two nights in January.
"What is there to do in Laughlin?"
------------------------------------------

If you really Vegas and the Vegas vibe, ............. then in my opinion, nothing .

Look at the Colorado River then go over to Bullhead City and have your fortune read and repeat the next day. No really, Laughlin is for the most part pretty nice place. GN and a few other nice casino a antique car place, and if the weather is decent a drive out to Oatman (Ghost Town0 with some shops and lots of mules coming into town. Is not a bad way to break the action up if on a losing streak. years ago they had a Chili cook-off there in January. Forget Christmas Tree pass just stay on main road.
The single best night of gambling I've had in my life was at the Pioneer in Laughlin where I pulled in over $1500 from a myriad of different table games and machines. I still dream about it.

Like you, I went in the Winter. That meant none of the pools or river recreation was available - and that means there's not much to do except gamble and watch football. Oh...and walk along the riverwalk where you might encounter one of Laughlin's most notorious residents :

The riverwalk skunk - he lives under the bridge between Aquarius and Edgewater

If you don't own a walker, you are probably to young for Laughlin. We go there a couple of times a year. The poker rooms are pretty good but Laughlin is pretty laid back.
I have a friend who is going to Vegas with me for a whole week and he somehow talked me into going to Laughlin so he can meet up with relatives who are coming in from Arizona. He is at least paying for the room. Hopefully it will be sunny so I can get some very long walks in. I will probably want to get there early evening for the first night's stay and leave in the morning just after the second night's stay. We will be going back to LV for the remainder of the vacation.
If you go in the summer time the river is fun to play on (jet skis etc) but in January.....I guess you could gamble and pretend you are in Vegas.
I told friend that if his relatives back out, that we are going to cancel the reservations. There is a movie theater, a bowling alley, and what looks like some nice places to walk or hike. I'm not an 8 hour a day gambler.
I've seen the skunk a couple of times. He seems to get along with the other wildlife of the river there. He was hanging out with the ducks the last time I saw him, just like he was one of them. The ducks were not afraid of him at all.
Speaking of Laughlin wildlife, I remember seeing a couple of raccoons near the storm drain between the Riverside and the Aquarius. There also used to be a small colony of feral cats underneath the Colorado Belle, but they may be gone by now. And one winter day, I spotted a beaver sitting near the shore of the Colorado River. I had to look twice to make sure there really was a beaver in the middle of the desert. Naturally, we all assumed he worked at the nearby dam.
