Whats up with Greeting Cards?

Just bought Mom a Mother's Day Card and a box of Sugar Free Fannie Mae chocolates - her favorite.
I dont mind dropping the $25 for the candy. But then $5.50 for the greeting card? Its not even one of those that plays music when you open it. If I new it was going to be that expensive I just would have thought some crayons and made my own card like I did in Kindergarden. Maybe its time to buy stock in Hallmark.
I hear you PJ, I bought cards not too long back and it was like 40.00 and I did not buy the most expensive.
Funny you bring that up. My wife stopped in a dollar general because it was on her way home tonight, first time in 21 yrs of marriage, just because it was convenient. She came home amazed of all the stuff you could buy for a buck and she mentioned cards in particular. Shes always been one to put a lot of thought into the cards she bought, regardless of cost but even she started complaining about how much they are at cvs.
So dollar gen(or whichever one it was) will be getting a couple of our bucks thrown there way in the future, plus its really close. Hard to beleive we've never been in it.

J

Oh and she didn't stop for a card, just noticed them there.
Money is an issue for me now. I can't justify paying $4-$6 a piece for cards. I used to buy them at my local supermarket
for 30% off. They no longer offer them at a discounted price. So, it's off to the dollar store.

PJ- you can thank your inflation driving fearless leaders. Are you starting to get the picture now that their self serving decisions are directly affecting you and your money?
It's not inflation at all- it's pure greed.
Amercian Greeting cards is hoping you don't care or notice.

Oh boy. You're right. I'm going to stop buying gold and start hoarding greeting cards.
PJ- Hoarding some common sense would be much more beneficial.

LOL. Link inflation markers to the cost of greeting cards.
I never buy cards unless the gift I'm giving is cash and I need something to put it in. Greeting cards are for suckers. A long time ago when I was on the PTA we made cards for a fundraiser and I got a bunch of the leftovers so that's usually what I use. Whenever my dad gives a gift he always says, "Roses are red, Violets are blue, I saved a buck ninety-five by not buying a card for you".
