Why haven't they done a new Vegas show?

It seems like it's been decades since the Travel Channel has done one of their "Vegas" shows- like "Sucker bets" or "Top 10 pools in Vegas" or whatever.
Have I just missed them, or they just don't make them anymore?
I've got a great title for a new special. "Vegas Top 10 Resort Fee Rip Offs: What You Used To Get For Free But Now Pay For".

I wonder when I can production started.

I think they have done a couple in 2011 or 2012. They certainly don't roll them out like they used to.

In regards to resort fees, I can remember places saying that resort fees included free parking and free valet, yet non-hotel guests got the same things for no fee. Most of them now seem to automatically put free Wi-Fi. They did not have free Wi-Fi at the Luxor, but you could use their hotel room ethernet hookup for your computer for free.
I think many of the themes of those shows have dried up...

- its much harder to cheat in Vegas nowadays so there's not much to report there
- the "hidden value deals" today are fewer and farther between than just ten years ago
- The days of building themed hotels like pyramids, mideval castles, and city-scapes are largely over. While the new hotels are more elegant there isn't enough different about each of them that makes it worth exploring those differences in show.

At least this would be my guess.

I enjoyed them because they would sometimes tour the best suites and show things only offered to the highest of the high rollers. They would also give you behind the scene tours of various shows, plus they did a nice job on one show where they showed the people who maintain the Bellagio fountains.

While they give gambling tips on the games, the information is so generic and so bland, that I don't think anybody has changed the way they play or the games they play when they come to Vegas.

As much as I used to enjoy watching these shows, they just ran their course. As was said, a number of the themes are just outdated. Building stagnation rules out the "Top Ten New Strip Resorts of 2013!" The internet has also affected the need for some of these shows. Time was that I got info from Las Vegas Style and LVA. I still read the newsletter, but not for groundbreaking info. Most I see I have already come across weeks ago through one source or another on the net. Time was that every other person I talked to was either just getting back from or planning a Vegas trip. Not so much anymore, especially those that never learned the ins and outs of LV travel. They found after a few trips of dropping their bankroll and fighting crowds on the strip (because they didn't anything else existed) that they had been there and done that. I would love to see some new shows, but what would they be about?

Good Luck!

I would like to pitch a "Vegas Virgins" show where you show some newbie's trip from the planning stage to the bitter end. I can imagine some great TV would result. It would almost be like a "Naked and Afraid" reality show. I think the huge influx of Brits coming to Vegas would take over season one.

Maybe you could also pair up Vegas veterans and Vegas Virgins and compare the trips, or do a High Roller trip vs an extreme low roller trip.

I think I've been on one of those trips myself (never again will I visit a casino with someone who says "I need to break a twenty so I can play slots").
..who says "I need to break a twenty so I can play slots" That is pretty funny.
If it makes you feel better, the History Channel has taken over where the Travel Channel has left off, since at least 3 shows center on Vegas businesses. None of them have much to do with gambling, but it's better than nothing.

Yeah, that's high roller stuff. I never put in more than a fiver.
