Will someone explain the dropping gun violence in Virginia?

The concealed carry law changed in 2006. In 2013, Legal firearm sales where up a staggering 101% over 2006. While this article doesn't discuss this, I learned yesterday that the number of Virginians owning at least one gun is up 58% since since 2005. Gun sales have increased each year since 2005

During this time period, this article confirms that gun related crimes have decrease EACH year since 2005 and a total of 28%.

Most would argue that crime tends to increase as the economy spirals downward, which of course happened during this period. How can this be, how can this be?

The debate isn't about reducing/increasing the total people that have guns.

The debate is about making guns less accessible to people with homicidal mental problems...especially the kind of guns that can kill 50 people in a few minutes....
And people of Virgina know first hand what I'm talking about (within the time range you mention) 2007 Virginia Tech Massacre

Easy, gun laws and the economy have little to no effect on the overall homicide rate. Voters feel they do though so they're good red herrings for political theatre. Politicians love to pass laws that have no real effect but make the majority feel better.
Who needs to rob anybody and risk going to jail when Obama is giving you all the welfare you need. By the end of his term that SOB will be giving away so much we may be at record low crime rates.

I guess that I'm crazy, but I believe that the goal should be to decrease death. If increasing guns decreases deaths in America, then I'm for it. I don't own a gun.........accept for my great great grandfathers 1886 manufactured shot gun.

I don't know the exact stats, but close to the last 20 states which have passed concealed carry laws are 20 for 20 with lower gun crimes. If Liberals have different data, I'd like to see it.

Homicide rates have been falling basically everywhere in the US for the past 2 decades regardless of what legislation have been passed by states. This is an issue that state and federal governments have little control over.

Okay, I'll play:

  • The states with Democratic governors have lower gun crimes than from a few years ago.
  • The states with the highest proportion of illegal aliens have lower gun crimes.
  • The states with names ending in a vowel have lower gun crimes.

So does that mean the vowels, Democrats, or illegal aliens reduce gun crime? Only if you are deeply stooopid and think that correlation equals causation.

The crime rate has been plummeting for the last 20 years all over the US. If you have been led to believe the opposite, please change the channel. Their are deeply cynical people who are making money off of your stupidity and cowardice.
  • Let's see if Forkie will answer this question, since he's dodged every other. If concealed carry laws would lead to fewer deaths in America, would Forkie support concealed carry laws?
