I just finished reading your "Question of the Day" for August 22. In your answer, the former CEO of the Las Vegas Club was quoted as saying that the Tamares Group owns 11 acres of property downtown. I was wondering where the 11 acres are located?

Why was there not a word written in the QOD about the two people jumping into the Venetian canal? There was a blurb on the Internet and on TV but very little as a total. Did the Venetian (Sands Corp.) hush everything up? Would like to know what happened from a local standpoint and how the two people are right now. Original report had them as "critical."

When you recently supplied a three-part history of the Maxim casino, you wrote that we could expect "some more tangential QoDs to follow." Can we still and, if so, when?!

Is the picture of Tupac on the cover of Cathy Scott’s book, The Killing of Tupac Shakur, which was shown in a recent issue of the LVA newsletter, the last known picture taken of Tupac while he was alive? Where was it taken, who took it, and why is there controversy over whether or not it’s fake? Where exactly was the car when he was shot? Also, since Tupac was known to be fascinated with numerology and with Niccolo Machiavelli -- what observations does Ms Scott have about their possible role or significance in his life and death?

I am somewhat confused after reading your news feed about the closing of the Las Vegas Club. I don’t understand what it means that Derek Stevens bought the property but not the name or the gaming. The name I get, but does this mean that he cannot have gaming there? And what will happen to the former employees of the casino?

In classic Vegas style, the Westgate announced a Suzanne Somers one-year residency with great fanfare, which included renaming the theater after her, as well as a Suzanne spa, cosmetics store and an organic cafe. However they were quick to throw in the towel and quietly abandon everything "Suzanne" after just a few short months. I'll assume it all comes down to dollars and, at this stage of her career, she just wasn't the draw that someone thought she would be. But why wouldn't the Westgate (or any hotel/casino, for that matter) start with a much shorter residency first to determine how any star would draw before deciding to go "all in" on them? Or is that just typical Vegas hype at its best?

We know that there are no parts of the "original" Flamingo Hotel still around. How about the Tropicana, which I believe is now [with the closing of the Riv] the next-oldest strip casino left?

With the somewhat "normalization" of relations with Cuba, have you heard and rumblings about possible gaming activity moving onto the island?

We were thinking about staying at the Circus Circus RV campground. With no car, how safe is it to ride a bike on the Strip? Do the casinos have parking for them?
