While watching "Pawn Stars" tonight I saw a Las Vegas open-top sightseeing bus. Are they crowded? I wouldn't want to ride it if I couldn't be on top.

One day we went to the Silverton Casino for lunch, only to find that their Buffet was closed. Another day, we stopped by the Stratosphere for lunch, and found their Buffet closed. What happened? Do you know of any other casinos who have stopped their lunch times so we don't have to waste money driving around?

The Consumer Electronics Show took place last month (Jan 7-10). I have attended this conference in the past and was wondering how large the attendance was this year? For many years, the last full week before Thanksgiving was always COMDEX week. I attended several of those from the late ‘90s through its final year in 2003. In its heyday it had quite an effect on room rates and shows. At its peak I think the attendance exceeded 200,000. I was curious, was that the largest convention Las Vegas (or maybe anywhere else) has ever had?

There has been a lot written about room rates in Las Vegas. However, little attention has been paid to car-rental prices, which seem way up to me in Las Vegas and most everywhere else. Adjusting auto-rental fleets is a lot easier than adjusting room numbers. I don't have solid stats, but I'd almost take an even bet that much of the savings due to the hotel glut for John Q. Tourist has been eaten up by auto-rental prices and fees. What say the experts?
