I am not a high stakes gambler by any means; usually I take $500 for a three-day stay in LV. But, I am willing to wager $5 in BJ, or play with $100 on a $5 crap table. Most casinos today open $15, $25 and $50 tables with very few if any $5 tables. Those $5 tables are always very crowded. I expect the casino to win my $500 while I visit, and I don't mind. What I do mind is the fact they want it all at once. Couldn't they give me a chance to lose it over a longer period of time, and still enjoy myself? I've walked away from tables, and kept my money in my pocket and spent it elsewhere, or just saved it. If they have dealers standing alone doing nothing at a $25 table, wouldn't it be worth their time and trouble to make it a $5 table and let us little guys have some fun? It's not like we are going to break their bank.

Why do the casino pools close so early? When we were in Vegas in May, the temp was 100 and the pools closed at 6 pm. I enjoy a nice hot tub soak at the end of the day, but they are closed.

I've recently read that sliding a $20 tip toward the hotel check-in clerk and asking if there are any "complimentary upgrades" available can help get you a better room. I've never before heard of tipping a check-in person. I'm going to be arriving at Mandalay Bay in just a few days and wonder if this trick really works. Should I try it?

How inclined are Vegas casinos to give a comp (such as a meal, a discounted room, or something more valuable) to a table player who does not have a player's (rating) card?

My wife and I are frequent visitors of Las Vegas. The food portions are generally huge! We are not big eaters. At Paco's at the Sahara, they serve up awesome fajitas, which has easily enough food to fill us both. But we feel guilty just ordering one plate, so we order two and either stuff ourselves and be very uncomfortable or we waste a ton of food. Do resturants frown on couples ordering one plate and sharing it??

Sometimes I stand and watch my brother play a table game, Let It Ride for instance. When he leaves the table for one reason or another, I sit down and play for him while he's gone. The dealer doesn't seem to mind when I do this. But if I won a large jackpot while playing, would I be one to get a W-2G or would my brother since it is his money?

I've been watching Texas hold 'em tourneys on TV. Do they always burn a card on the flop, turn, and river cards and if so, why?

I am planning a trip to Las Vegas in July 2008 and would like to be sure I have a LVA coupon book. If I join now, which coupon book would I get -- the 2007 or 2008, or both?
