I'm planning a trip in June and car-rental prices at the airport are crazy! Is there a list of Las Vegas hotels with car-rental agencies?
By not renting a car at the airport, you’ll save the airport concession recovery fee of 10%. You also won’t have to pay the consumer facility fee of $4 per day. You’ll still have to pay Nevada sales tax for car rentals at 8.25%, the Clark County rental tax of 2%, and a state government surcharge of 10%. But even for only a two- or three-day rental, those fees can add up to $20-$30; for a weekly rental, more like $50-$60.
Luckily, it’s not difficult to rent a car at an off-airport location. Almost all the major casinos on the Strip and downtown, plus most of the locals casinos, have rental-car counters.
Hertz, for example, has locations at Caesars Palace, Paris, Planet Hollywood, Venetian/Palazzo, Cosmopolitan, the Plaza, the Rio, and JW Marriott; Avis has rental offices at Mandalay Bay, Excalibur, Bellagio, New York-New York, Park MGM, Mirage, Luxor, MGM Grand, Circus Circus, and Four Queens.
Las Vegas locals use any number of non-casino for rental-car satellites. Just google your preferred agency and try to get as close to the airport as possible.
You might actually pay more for the car; some rental agencies jack up the off-airport price, knowing that renters are trying to save money in this way. Then again, you might not. It's certainly worth researching.
Also, unless someone you know picks you up, you'll have to pay for transportation between the airport and hotel or rental-car agency. But you’ll definitely save on the airport fees.
