Have you ever dreamed of meeting a celebrity in Vegas? Well, you can!
I once saw Patrick Ewing playing blackjack at Bellagio. He played mostly good basic strategy, except he split 4s on one hand. That’s part of the reason he was losing stacks of $10,000 chips.
If you haven’t met anyone famous in the flesh, you can “meet” loads of celebrities at the Venetian, home of Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. The historic London doppelganger gallery now has locations all over the world, including the Las Vegas Strip.
The museum is easily accessed using the outdoor entrance to the Grand Canal Shoppes. It is open during the pandemic, though I’d advise you to call ahead and double-check as everything is in flux these days.
Tickets are $30, but you can save $3 by buying online at least a day in advance. There’s also a package price that includes a gondola ride at Venetian.
The attraction itself is enjoyable. The wax figures are extremely lifelike, fantastic representations of their real-life counterparts. Each one is placed with a backdrop to make them seem even more real. This is a great place for Vegas photo opportunities.
After your visit, check out the Field of Dreams store in the Grand Canal Shoppes, to shop for real-life movie and sports memorabilia. If you can hit the Sin City Celebrity Trifecta of seeing your favorite star’s wax figure, buying a piece of his/her memorabilia, and meeting in person, I’d say put some money in the nearest Megabucks machine, because it’s your lucky day in Vegas!
The American Casino Guide used to have 2 for 1 coupons for Madame T’s. Did this with the kiddo and had a blast. Probably spent almost two hours go through the museum, taking staged photos of almost everything. Haven’t been in a few years, but the end of the tour was a photo op with President Obama. We spent a decent amount of time in the gift shop also, browsing and taking photos with Elvis glasses that included sideburns. Overall a really enjoyable couple of hours.
I had my picture taken with Luciano Pavarotti, showed it to a friend who nearly fainted. “When were you in Italy??” Ha.
I also boxed with Ali, sang along with the Rat Pack guys, shook hands with Joe Montana, hugged James Brown, many others. My favorite photo collection. I don’t think they had Elvis yet or Siegfried and Roy yet. There was some other Elvis attraction at the time, so maybe that’s why ‘he’ wasn’t there. The cost of admission is well worth it, great time, amazing likenesses.
