Main Street Station or California?

On any given day, we have ten times more crap going on than you do, and people aren't politely disagreeing; they're shooting at each other. So this doesn't seem like the place for a peaceful getaway to me :)

But if you're going to Washington or Oregon, this is the perfect time of year to be here, especially since with our all-time low snowpack, the whole place might go up in flames come July.

Speaking of breaking away, I want BC to join Washington, Oregon, Hawaii, and California to form the new nation of Pacifica. We'd kick the world's ass.

Who knows... If Alberta separates, then B.C. may join their southern neighbours. Nothing surprises me anymore.  Yes, it would be awesome. Pacifica!!

Since we're on this topic, I'm curious...does the Canadian constitution give the provinces the right to secede?

If I remember my history correctly, wasn't BC basically threatening to not join Canada unless and until the transcontinental railroad was completed? Makes sense...even today, it's a hell of a lot easier to get from Vancouver to Seattle or Portland than it is to get to Calgary or Edmonton. Geographically, Pacifica makes good sense!

The topic is MSS or the CAL.  How does this topic delve into Canadian secession and whatever else?  Take your policial CRAP to the sink and leave the rest for folks who want info on Vegas.

Oh, for Christ's sake. You are now officially the seven billionth person to complain when someone "goes off topic" on an internet message board. I'll bet that when you're at a party, you walk around, punching people who are talking about "crap" you don't like.

If you don't like a post, stop reading it. OR...scream at the poster and tell them what a bleepity blank no-good scumbag they are. I recommend the former, in order to keep your blood pressure nice and low.

In the meantime, I will talk about whatever I want, including gambling, politics, the weather, Canadian secession, the anatomy of fruit flies, my favorite pufferfish recipe, my grandmother's digestive problems, or any other goddamn topic I wish. In turn, I pledge not to force you to read any of it.

Kevin, take a chill pill & calm down. You have made some good comments. Let's keep things friendly & informative.

Well, then, maybe JDC should stop freaking out. This isn't the only screaming post he's made.

This is very common, when a person who goes all berserker on me and I'm the one blamed for it. Like in grade school, when a bully punched me and I punched back, I was always blamed for starting a fight.

So I think I'll just ignore JDC, Miller, and their kind.

That's a good idea.

Assuming the price is the same for each, which has the better ("Deluxe King") rooms, Main Street Station or California?

Heya!

As a once-a-year visitor to the Cal who has stayed at MSS a couple of times, I think it depends what you're looking for.

Overall I like the Cal better, as long as you're booking the rooms in the newer tower (over the Market Street Cafe) vs the rooms right by checkin.  The rooms over Market Street Cafe are larger and more comfortable in my experience.

The Cal is just a step further from the freeway noise and train noise, and the sound deadening seems to be a tiny bit better than MSS.  MSS also seemed to have less active table games but the slots are comparable. The food options and just a few minutes less walking to everything is a pretty nice plus also.  It was also my experience at MSS it was more difficult to find staff/help when needed, and although it was only twice during that 4 day weekend, it was still worth noting.

I hope you have a great trip whichever you choose!
