Name the song the line is from Part II

I know The Four Tops when I hear them. But I also know a Holland-Dozier-Holland song when I see it (usually that is). That be “Standing in the Shadows of Love”.

Now this:

I said, “yeah, yeah, yeah, woo!!"

I been a-thinkin' and a-thinkin'.

Is that Brown Sugar, by the Stones, Cyn?

You got it, Jim.

Your turn.

OK.

I'm gonna do one of the songs that kept running through my mind when I was trying to guess Cyndee's lyrics. It didn't quite fit because it had a few too many "yeahs" and it didn't have a "woo," LOL.

The original version of this song dates back to 1968. It was subsequently covered by several artists, and one cover in the 80s did better on the US charts than the 1968 original.

From the 1968 version:

Hey, she give me love and I feel all right now

I do believe that’s “Mony, Mony” by Tommy James and later by Billy Idol.

This ran through my mind while trying to think of one Jim posted yesterday:

She whispered in my ear, something crazy

Edit: I'll learn to spell someday.
"Spill the Wine" by the Animals?

If so, here's mine:

A place where nobody dared to go
The love that we came to know
Hi, jgxtrav1. Welcome to the thread.

Spill The Wine looks like a good guess to me. Was that the Animals or War?

Anyway, I'm pretty sure your lyrics are from Xanadu, by Olivia Newton-John with ELO in the background.

OK, the original release of this song was in 1965, at least as far as I know:

But that was many tears ago
Now your love is just a memory

Edit: And I wanna know how come Spill The Wine makes you think of me, Cyndee, heh, heh.

Real quick here, before I get back to my homework, Jim. Your lyrics from “Too Many Fish in the Sea" made me think of “Spill The Wine”. Just look at what you posted. I think you’ll see it.

Then again spilling wine may be one of your talents, I wouldn’t know.

Now back to our regularly schedule program. That line doesn’t ring any bells for me.

Edit to add: "Spill the Wine" was done by War when Eric Burden was with them. But hey, the name of the song was right.
OK, hint time, but I'm having trouble coming up with much of anything useful.

First, more lines, including the title:

_ ____ ___ ____
Your heart belonged to only me
But that was many tears ago
Now your love is just a memory
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeaaaaah, yeah

This song reached the #14 position on the US charts in 1965. That same year, the artist also had a #9 hit that had to do with being born down in the boondocks.

Edit: And, for what it's worth (probably not much), an 80s cover of this song by Linda Ronstadt charted in the top 40.

_ ____ ___ ____
Your heart belonged to only me
But that was many tears ago
Now your love is just a memory
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeaaaaah, yeah

Looks like that one isn't working, so let's move on.

It was I Knew You When, by Billy Joe Royal.

Most folks didn't know that this #1 hit from 1965 was actually a cover:

I got troubles, whoa-oh
I got worries, whoa-oh
I got wounds to bind
