Name the song the line is from Part II

Next line contains the title...Sea Cruise. ooo-eee. ooo-eee, baby

new...

one line should be enough

Inside we both know what's been ... goin' on

Wow. Phil, weren't you the one who said he was "all about the 60s and70s?" And yet, here you are, into the late 80s with that one. Nicely done, sir!

It's Never Gonna Give You Up, by Rick Astley.

Hmmm...kind of makes me wonder...has anyone here ever been Rickrolled? Don't worry, the link just goes to a wikipedia article that explains what Rickrolling is.

OK, back to the early 70s for this one:

It's like trying to find gold in a silver mine

Thanks for the link, Jim. I really needed a distraction like that today. I never heard of “Rickrolling” before. Oh, and by the way yours is “Honky Cat”. We all know who did that.

#1 for two weeks in 1986:

When I was young I thought of growing old
Of what my life would mean to me

Ooo, ooo, I know that one! It's by Duran Duran. My turn, right?

No?? OK, then it's Kyrie, by Mr. Mister.

This one is from 1981. It only made it to #16, but I liked it. I'll give it up in a little while if no one knows it:

And how do we spend our time, knowin' that nobody gives us a damn

How funny is that?

Let’s start an 80s cover band. We’ll call it Mr. Duran.

I’m still not sure about your latest, pal.

British band. They called themselves a "Project." They consisted of two core members (one of whom was the Project's namesake), joined by a varying array of guest artists, backup singers, and studio musicians.

Adding a second line of lyrics:

Where do we go from here, now that all of the children have grown up
And how do we spend our time, knowin' nobody gives us a damn

I'll give it up in a little while if it doesn't click for anyone. Meanwhile, I'm gonna look for a different song.

OK, so much for that one.

It was Games People Play, by The Alan Parsons Project. BTW, it's entirely different from the 1969 song of the same name by Joe South.

Let's try this one. It topped the charts for two weeks in 1985:

Will you recognize me
Call my name, or walk on by?

Yikes! I'm not doing very well with my selections today. More info on this one:

  • It was done by a Scottish rock band.

  • It was #1 on the US charts May 18-31, 1985. It also reached #1 in Canada, and #7 in the UK.

  • It was featured in a popular "Brat Pack" movie from that same year, about five teens who spend a Saturday together in the high school detention hall.

  • A few more lines of lyrics:

    Will you recognize me
Call my name, or walk on by?
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
    Down, down, down down

I'll give it up a little later this evening if no one guesses it.

  • Well that one must be in my blind spot, Jim. There were several popular songs in the 80s that I never knew the words to. Can you hum a few bars?

Edit: I grabbed the wrong emoticon.

I suppose I could, but right now I'd prefer to go hit a few bars instead.

That one was Don't You (Forget About Me), by Simple Minds. The movie was The Breakfast Club.

I'll leave the floor open, rather than risk another clinker. Somebody help me.
