Sorry to say I don't remember the cause, but I liked the song.

It's Too Much Heaven, by the Bee Gees.

Another one from 1978:

I can see, it took so long just to realize
I'm much too strong not to compromise

That’s Boston with “Don’t look back”.

BTW, Jim “Too Much Heaven” raised Money for UNICEF.
According to Wikipedia:
All of the publishing royalties on it went to UNICEF, to celebrate the International Year of the Child, which was designated to be 1979.

This is from 1984 (hint):

And I know, Baby, just how you feel
You've got to roll with the punches to get to what's real

That's Jump, by Van Halen. David Lee Roth must have still been with the band when they did that one, because I can picture him prancing around the stage in the MTV video.

This one was a #1 hit for two weeks in 1963. The group consisted of four males with a female lead. All five were active duty Marines stationed at Camp LeJeune, NC, at the time. They intended this song to be the throw away B-side to the A-side single they thought was destined to become a hit. Ah, the best laid plans...

Because I (I, I), I get so timid and shy
Each time that I look him in the eye

Here are a few more lines:

Well, I know that I love him so
But I'm afraid that he'll never know
Because I (I, I), I get so timid and shy
Each time that I look him in the eye

I get the feeling that one may not work, so I'll give it up as soon as I find something else.

NO, JIM, NO ....I know it just can't spit out the title as yet

Easier Said Than Done.

I had this as a 45

new...

Bring your love around
You can dry away my tears

Nicely done, Phil.

I wish I could reciprocate, but right now I'm drawing a blank on your tune.

I'll keep thinking.

As I am blocked during the day here is a hint. Lyrics by bros, female singer.

OK - I was going to say Bee Gees - Come On Over which would fit quite well with todays Bee Gee Lovefest.
But then you threw in the female singer so I guess you are referring to the version performed by Olivia Newton John.

Female Rock -

Edited for additional clues - Originally from Detroit, she plays Bass guitar and sings.
Looks good in leather too!

I lead the angel pack on the road to sin,
Knock down the gates! Let me in, let me in !

OK - So that was a bomb ;0

It was Suzi Quatro - Devil Gate Drive
