It flies! It flies! Some early Roy O, I think.
Uptown
I would guess that this one was from about the same time, give or take:
My heart is cryin', cryin'

A great Berry Gordy song -
Lonely Teardrops - Jackie Wilson
************NEW*************
One of my all-time favourite songs -
I ain't gonna die, I ain't gonna get caught

Another line (from a different verse) for you
I promised my woman this is gonna be my last

I'll be out all day today so if this is a no-go, here is the solution
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUmIO_MG5IU
The distinctive guitar sound comes from the guitar being tuned DADGAD. also known as D Modal, Celtic or Bensusan tuning.

Looks like it's a no go, Tony.
Treetop Flyer
, by Stephen Stills.
Given what we’ve recently learned about your “hobby,” I can see why the song might be especially appealing to you.
I listened to the YouTube video, and I like the song, but I can’t recall ever hearing it. Sorry.
Let's try this one from 1962:
And now I'm back, to let you know
I can really shake 'em down

Hi All,
That’s a good one, Jim. It’s “Do you love me?” by The Contours.
There are many versions of this pretty but sad one:
Another losing game comes to an end
And he deals them out again

I believe that's called
Solitare
. I remember Neil Sedaka singing it, but I think someone may have done a more popular version? Not sure.
This is from 1978:
Either way it's OK, you wake up with yourself

That one is a good one from Billy Joel. It’s “My life”.
BTW, Neil Sedaka wrote and recorded "Solitaire". Later on, The Carpenters had a big hit with it. But, so did Andy Williams.
I think this short clue will do:
Bye-bye, so long, farewell
Edited to correct my punctuation.

That's
See You In September
, by The Happenings. I really liked that one.
I heard this one on the radio this morning, and it's been stuck in my head all day. It's from 1984:
Don't come back here, yankee!
That last word could be
yanqui
, depending upon which country the fictional events described in the song took place.
