Name the song the line is from Part II

Isn't that (BUT IT'S) ALL IN THE GAME?

i LOVE THAT. Barry sings it on greatest love songs of all times

Don't go for second best, Baby-
Put yourself to the test
Pretty sure that one be Express Yourself, by Madonna.

For some reason this popped into my head today, and I can't make it go away:

I bet you're singin' proud
Oh, I bet you pull a crowd

Gonna be a long night
It's gonna be all right

That’s a, sort of, R&B Heaven that The Commodores called “The Night Shift”.

I heard this today while driving. It’s from 1978:

I'll give you one hint, honey
You sure did put on a show

That's Billy Joel at his irreverent best, doing Big Shot. Loved it.

This one was from 1979:

Maybe it's just an ego problem
Problem is, I've been fooled before
By fair weather friends and faint hearted lovers

More lines, including the 8-word title:

Maybe it's just an ego problem
Problem is, I've been fooled before
By fair weather friends and faint hearted lovers
And every time it happens
It just convinces me more

____ ___'__ __ ____ ____ _ _________ _____
You watch her eyes
____ ___'__ __ ____ ____ _ _________ _____
You look for lies

Prior to 1979, the group had already enjoyed a few nice hits. One was about a phone conversation with the mother of a former girlfriend. Another lamented the fact that they were unable to get their picture on the cover of a certain magazine even though they possessed all the attributes of a successful rock band -- wealth, fame, drug habits, and groupies who would "do anything we say."

That’s Dr. Hook complaining again when they sang “When you’re in love with a beautiful woman”. They loved to tell hard luck stories, didn’t they?

Now on to a song that was released popular in 1964 and used in a popular movie in 1994:

They had a hi-fi phono
Boy, did they let it blast

Well, I don't remember the movie (shows you what I know), but I sure did like the song.

You Never Can Tell, by Chuck Berry. A classic, pure and simple.

OK, here's one from 1972. In this case, I think one line may be about right:

Holding hands and skimming stones

Hi Jim

Thanks for the Welcome Back.

I believe that was Elton - Crocodile Rock.

**************NEW************

Charted high in the USA -

Finally a chance to say "Hey! I love you

Tonyrob

I think that's "You Light Up My Life," by Debbie Boone.

In case I'm right, here's another one ...

"She'll hold you tight, and
you'll hate yourself for being single"

Some starry night, when her kisses make you tingle
She'll hold you tight, and you'll hate yourself for being single

I know that one! It was a long time ago, but Mom and Dad played lots of Sinatra music on the old phonograph. Young ears listened and memorized the lyrics to every song, which they thought was a hoot. That one is The Tender Trap.

Here's one from 1959:

Over and over
What more can I do?
