To live on the land, we must learn from the sea.

I love that song, Tony. It's Calypso, by John Denver.

From 1969:
All I ask of living is to have no chains on me
And all I ask of dying is to go naturally

(And thank you very much, Tony and Cyndee. )

Isn’t that “When I die” by Blood, Sweat and Tears? I think so, anyway.

I always liked this one from 1978:

He kissed his boy as he lay sleeping
And he turned around and headed home again

I think that's Slip Slidin' Away, by Mr. Simon. Very nice!

One-liners are risky but, what the hell. We be in the mid 70s here:

...but I like it, like it, yes I do

“It’s only Rock and Roll”. At least that’s what The Rolling Stones told us.

Okay, everybody grab your partner for a slow dance from 1978:

You’re so close now, I can’t let you go
And I can’t let go

Okay the song only went to #8 on the Billboard hot 100. But I still hear it sometimes on my local oldies station.
I just read where Lindsey Buckingham produced the album from which this came, "Not Shy" and the song was inspired by Stevie Nicks.

Maybe another few lines will help:

I can't hope that I'll hold you for long
You're a woman who's lost in your song
I be trying really hard, Cyn.

Dammit, those last few lines sound so familiar.

(Edit: I thought I knew everything there was to know about Lindsey and Stevie. Apparently not, pal. )
I am lost on this one - I don't think that I have heard it.

Okay, Guys. I’ll give. It’s “Magnet and Steel” by Walter Egan. It’s a really nice slow dance song.

Give a listen here

Let’s see what else is in my bag here:

You gave me hope
When I was at the end
And turned my lies
Back into truth again

Working on this one - I heard it as a duo, but it wasn't the original

Hi All,

This song won the 1978 Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. It was the first time this award was given to a Canadian.
According to Wikipedia, the song was written by Randy Goodrum and he described it as being about "unconditional undeserved love." They also say that n 1979, Kenny Rogers and Dottie West released a cover on their album "Classics".

A few more lines:

I sold my soul
You bought it back for me
and held me up and gave me dignity
